Question about Canon PowerShot SD100 / IXUS II Digital Camera
Posted my problem a little earlier then found a number of similar recent posts. One post says Canon admit it is a CCD connection problem and will repair it free. I am some distance from a service centre so I wonder if I could repair it myself (I used to do be in electronics & computers). Then I note that this has happened to a number of Canon users all around the same time. One suggests therefore its a timebomb in the ROM! Can any experts advise please!? Thanks, Kevin.
No don't repair it yourself. Canon makes it an easy process to return it for the free repair with free shipping. This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

It's a known problem with the Sony CCD, affecting many brands & models of cameras & camcorders. Canon repaired mine for free a few months back, not sure if the offer has expired yet?
