I have broken the impeller shaft on a Fishmate 3500 pump. The person who answers the phone at the main supply store insists that the service kits are specific to the model number (not just to 3500). I'm guessing that any service kit for a 3500 would do the job - but they're $100 so I'd rather not just guess. Any ideas? Fishmate seems to have only one supplier - all pond stores keep referring me back to the same place.
This is a 2500 gph pond pump. I'd also be willing to consider buying a complete replacement pump if I can get something at a reasonable price with good energy efficiency.
If the pump is an older one you will be money ahead to buy a replacement. They do come on sale this time of year. I repaired mine and six months later the bearings went so I stung myself twice.

I have experienced this same problem and all I needed was to prime the pump. Unless your pump cannot pump up that high.

take the pump apart take the insides out the shaft and that's it . now take the part with all the copper wire soke it in turpintine put it back togethere the coating on the coper has a hole some were leave it in over night if your pump has circuit board remove before you put it in

After checking the power supply to the pump, we found a short and have temporarily fixed the problem by plugging the pump into the house! I will need to buy a new electrical outlet. Just glad it wasn't the pump. That would have been difficult to get out of the skimmer to replace it! I am planning to drain the pond in a couple weeks and hope to be able to clean the pump then. My fish are happy now!

Most likeluy it overheated wile running outside of the water. It neds the water for cooling.
