Kitchenaid ice maker

I have a kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. On the ice maker, the arm doesn't drop back down after ice is made. It must be manually dropped to refill with water and make another batch of ice. How do I get the arm to drop automatically?

We called around and were told there wasn't such a part for our fridge, however we did find a replacement bar and are going to replace it.  Hopefully that will work

Turned off our ice maker [KitchenAid] for a period of time. Flipped the switch to on, but now no water flows from the little black rubber pipe that supplies water into the ice maker. Wonder if there might be a blockage in the pipe or any other cause for no water flow. Can anybody help?

Is it sticking all the way up in off position? If so there is a redesigned arm to stop this problem. Instead of just a wire arm, it has a plastic flap on the bottom that hinges. This keeps the arm from jumping into the off position when it cycles. Any whirlpool/kitchenaid servicer should have one and show you how to replace it. Takes just a few seconds. If it is sticking half way down or lower, then it is binding up somewhere. You should be able to raise it about 2" and it fall freely back into place. Post back if this is what is happening.

I have the arm on my service truck, but it is in a kit with other parts that you wouldn't need and I don't remember the part number for the individual part.  I will try to find the part number and service letter concerning this part and problem tomorrow and post it in case the new arm does not fix it. .

The part number for the replacement shut-off arm is 2304354. This is a Whirlpool part number. You should be able to get it through any whirpool parts dealer. I know you can get it through Sears, I looked it up on their website.

This part only applies to side by side refrigerators with ice and water dispensers that have the icemaker mounted on the left wall of the freezer. I can not post the actual service letter due to legal reasons. What it says in short is that sometimes the shut off arm will get stuck in the ice in the bucket. When the ice maker goes through it's cycle, the arm will pop loose from the ice and spring up into the shut off position.

Also, this will not help if you can not move the arm freely. If you can't raise it an inch or two and it fall back on it's own, there is a problem in the module that operates it.

I hope this helps and good luck.

I have a KitchenAid side by side fridge, type 25SSA, water is leaking from bottom of ice maker down front of freezer and into ice bin, how do I stop leak?

Is the refrigerator and the ice maker level? Does it appear that the ice maker is over filling or slowly overflowing due to a leak in the Click here=> W10408179 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve? Look in the rear of the ice maker where the water fill tube enters the ice maker do you see water freezing and running down to the ice bin from there? Let me know.

Buzzing sound Kitchen Aid fridge Model KBLA20EMSS

It may be the arm in the ice maker is down. Even though the ice maker does not have the water hooked up if the arm above the ice bin is down it will still cycle the ice maker try lifting up the arm it should stay up this signals the ice maker that the bin is full and should shut off the ice maker. Hope this helps.

KitchenAid 25in KSRJ25CNST00 icemaker trouble. The LED light on side of freezer is blinking twice with a delay and repeats same sequence. No ice is making. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Try the reset button on the control panel. If that doesn't work, then try unpluging the refrigerator.
Also, make sure that ice tray shut off arm isn't in the up position. It should be in the unlock position one notch below the off position. This arm is used by the refrigerator from over filling the ice cube holding tray. Once the ice fills the tray. The ice in the bend will push up on the arm which
initiate the ice maker to stop making ice. As soon as you start using the ice in the bend and the arm falls below the off position. The ice maker will start making ice. GB....stewbison

KitchenAid Superba KSRG25FK Side by Side-where is the arm of the ice maker?

Hello ksraine,

I understand that you are looking for the arm on your ice maker. I believe you are talking about the ice makers that have the little wire arm that goes up and down as it makes ice to know when to stop making ice. The ice maker that you currently have installed on you side-by-side does not have the wire arm. Here is a picture of a complete ice maker that is factory installed on your unit -justinbur167.jpg Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Ice maker makes too much ice

In my Kitchen Aid bottom freezer there is a metal arm(?) that I lift up to stop the ice maker from making ice. When I start running low on ice, I push the metal arm(?) back down for it to make ice again. Hope this is the solution for your Kitchen Aid too.

Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working

I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"
