Epson 1280 does not feed paper properly

My Epson 1280 has developed a feeding problem...it will not consistently feed paper...sometimes it just pulls a sheet (or two, but not together) thru without printing anything and then the error light and status monitor show paper loading error...other times it tries to load but fails...is there something to adjust, clean, or otherwise do to remedy this? Thanks
