Many LG LCD television owners report having a problem with their televisions where the screen powers on, but then lasts only a few seconds or a few minutes before powering itself off again. The problem usually occurs with brand new televisions, and in this case is inside the television itself. If your television is powering off unexpectedly, contact LG so it can be serviced.
Take a flashlight, dim the lights in the room and shine the light on the panel with the set on. If you see a faint picture, you have a backlight problem. If you indeed do not have a picture or sound, you could be looking at a bad power supply or main board
If this is an LCD TV, show a torch light on the screen from a safe distance. If you can see the picture, the back light is not getting on. You may have to call in a qualified service technician.
