The camera does not respond to any of the controls and will not even switch off (battery has to be removed). As I have 2 of these cameras I have tried changing batteries, memory cards and chargers but still no luck. The camera has only been used twice but is now 18 months old.
The problem seems to lie with the focusing mechanisms. Mine has a similar problem, but it is possible to turn it on - try tapping the back of the camera firmly but gently onto your hand, or just knocking the rear of the camera at different angles. This allows you to turn the camera on. However, the lens still won't focus, (I'm unable to take pictures at all), and you'll need to knock it again a few times every time you turn it on.

I have a Kodak Z740. I bumped it on a bus and now the card slot doesn't hold the card in correctly. Sometimes it works and then sometimes it will say card needs formatting. If I open the door and hold the card in it does well. Any suggestions?

The dial button to select audio, camera or video does not work, not matter to where you turn it, the only function that responds is to record audio. BTW, who's this camera manufacturer? I've searched the web and can't find their page.

The camera is unresponsive, freezes, and won't even turn off without removing the batteries. It also makes a soft buzzing noise, like when the lens is focusing.
