Question about Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Personal Web Camera
I just bought the Logitech QuckCam Communicate STX and have successfully loaded it onto my PC (XP). I only use AOL's AIM. I can not seem to connect with anyone on AIM. I have tested the camera on Yahoo and it works so I know the problem can't be the camera. Or is it? In AIM properties, I have set my Enhanced IM settings correctly like I read online. But it still does not work. I'm close to packing it up and returning it if I can't figure out what's going on. Can anyone help me out? Troubleshoot? Anything?
THE REAL SOLUTION!!!!
You probably have multiple video cameras and AIM has defaulted the wrong one
1. go to edit
3. enhanced im
4. audio & video
6. choose something other than default
8. repeat 1-7 until the image appears
do NOT click on video under innivations

I recently purchased a Logitech QuickCam. It's supposed to work with AIM, but for some reason I don't have an option for webcams on mine. I do on yahoo messenger. I can see my webcam on my screen. But all my buddy can see is a black screen. How do I make it so they can see me, too? I can see theirs, but after a few min it pauses than I also see nothing but a black screen. That and or theirs just tells me that's it's no longer available.
For mine all they see is a black screen and on my side it tells me that they can now see me. How do I fix this?

I did go throught the Enhanced IM settings also.
I thank everyone's responses in trying to help me out. It appears everything was set up correctly on my end. AIM came out with an update to AIM 6.5 last week or so. I ran this update. Then the next day Logitech had an update on the camera. I ran this update. Now everything mysertiously works properly. There must have been a conflict between the 2 and with both updates, it's been fixed!

Get into your AIM. Click on Edit >> Settings....
In the Settings Window, click on Enhanced IM. Make sure your video camera is selected from the drop down list making sure to save any changes.
Now, go into your Logitech Quickcam settings. Click on the Gear-looking thing, 4th from the top of icons. This will display the Webcam Settings. Click on the Microphone tab. Make sure to select the proper Microphone and Speakers from the dropdown lists and save your changes.
In the Quickcam settings once again, click on the bottom icon (if you rollover it it will show "Choose application". The first tab will display the different software you can use with your camera. Click on Launch AIM and you should be in business. :D

The person you are chatting with has his or her firewall on. most likely through their virus protection. tell them to turn it off and try it.

Sounds like the camera is fine, you need to troubleshoot the AOL application.

Personally I'd use Skype.
AIM (AOL) Messenger
Camera The audio and camera should function now.
Additional info to use with VIM settings.
