I understand that you want to reinstall the Operating System on the computer. Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer. To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the computer
  2. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. When prompted with a boot screen, hit the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails during the recovery, recovery of the operating system will need to be from Recovery Media.
  1. Insert the disk labeled System CD into the computer's disk drive and restart the computer.
  2. When the eMachines logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly.
  3. Select either CDROM or DVD as the boot device, this may vary depending on the system.
  4. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
  5. Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first Recovery CD.
  6. After the system recovery program has loaded follow the prompts to reinstall the operating system.

Refer the URL for more information and for the link to order the Recovery media if required.

Ive lost a recovery disk and now i cant reinstall,is there any way i can download off the net and make new recovery disks?

Two seperate issues. You can order new disks on ebay for example but if your product key is unreadable you need to purchase a new key.

I turned off the computer at night, the next day did not start, you feel the hard disk spins and emits always one click - click, the print head that moves quickly. The computer BIOS sees it very slowly...

You can take it to a data recovery specialist. They will hook your drive to another computer and try to recover your data. If they cannot access it through this method, then you may have lost everything.

You don't have to get it to factory setting as this will wipe all partition data. The fact is you are able to rely on this password recovery tool to reset your forgotten Windows Administrator login password easily. After that re-start your computer and you'll access your PC as normal.

Windows system32 config system

It sounds like you have an OEM disk of Windows XP from the manufacturer which will not always run as a recovery disk in these situations.

You have two main options; -
  1. If you are still under warranty for the laptop call the manufacturer explan the problem and ask them to send you a working non-OEM copy of the OS/ recovery disk
  2. Borrow a copy of a genuine Windows disk (same version of the OS, e.g. if it is Windows XP Home) and use it to access the Recovery console to run the repair option. Then of course return the disk to your friend.
