Question about HP Pavilion zd8000 Notebook

1 Answer

Laptop does not start; long beep heard, no display

My little brother's laptop won't start. He tells me that: 1.) He turns it on. 2.) It initially sounds like it should in terms of beeps. 3.) There is a long beep, and nothing is shown on the monitor. I've tried to search for the BIOS beep codes of this thing, but to no avail; I was surprised there seems to be an entire network focused around this model. Can anyone help us out? Last I spoke with him, he was in the process of swapping out RAM sticks. If anyone can think of anything else, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Re: Laptop does not start; long beep heard, no display

Have you attached an external monitor prior to turning it on?

Also, does it power up with battery and ac adapter? Try taking the battery out, and also just using memory in 1 slot.

Let me know

Good luck

BIOS Update was interrupted. Now laptop won't boot up.

basically your screwed , if the laptop is still under warranty I would return it without telling them u tried to flash the bios....ergo if they find out you will not be covered for warranty

the only other thing you may be able to try is inside of the laptop casing should be a small round battery usually wrapped in heatshrink or alike if you unplug that then unplug power source (main battery) and hold power button down for about 30 sec then replce both batteries and turn on it may reset bios to factory but is highly unlikely!!! you may need to contact the creator of the nios system!!!

My fujitsu N6410 was over heating and now the screen is black on start up and it beeps 1 long 2 short. What do i need to fix ?

If your laptop was overheating, you need to resolve the may be that the Processor fan is clogged with dust/dirt. Or is has stop working and needs to be replaced.
The Beep codes indicates that the video circuit is not working.. If that is the case, you need to R/R the system board.
1 long, 2 short Indicates a video error has occurred and the BIOS cannot initialize the video screen to display any additional information

My laptop won't boot. Its a HP Pavilion dv6000, when I turn it on the lights come on and I get 1 beep followed by another 2 beeps. The screen doesn't come on and the fan doesn't seem to either....

This is most likely a problem with the video device in the laptop...

A single beep followed by two or three beeps is the code for "Unable to initialize video (to display the post code)"

Unfortunately since most laptops have the video chipset imbedded in the motherboard there is nothing short of replacing the board you can do to fix it.

If there is anything else, please let me know

It seems that there is RAM issue because of which you are 1 long beep and 2 short beeps refers on your Sony Viao laptop in such case the basic thing is to replace your RAM and youn't be able to get the beep sound again or else you can also Rub the golden foil of your RAM with rubber and try to insert it again. Hope it works for you.

    Laptop not working

It's possible that the motherboard has a problem and needs replaced. However, usually when this type of thing happens, it's with the memory, battery, or hard drive. A failing memory chip or malfunctioning battery are the two main causes for this. You can check these yourself by; 1- removing the battery and starting with the power suppl only, 2- removing the memory and try starting with one chip at a time, 3- remove the hard drive and see if the machine will go to the initial display screen. If these three don't work, then I'm afraid the problem is with the motherboard and it will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, HP has the most fragile and rather pricey motherboards on the market, so the problem may very well be with the board. If it is, take into consideration the cost of the repair and the cost of a new machine, it may be time for a new laptop.
