Question about RCA F32632SB 32" TV

2 Answers

TV just shut off one day...

I have 32" RCA TV, model # F3263SB manufactured in 1996. I was watching TV one day and it just turned off and it has not come back on since. There was no previous signs that something might be wrong. I have unplugged it and left it unplugged for days on end and then plugged it back in, nothing. Is there perhaps a fuse inside that has blown? Is it possibly worth fixing? Has been a great TV until this happened. Would appreciate any advice. -Todd

It's not that I did not appreciate your advice but it did not help me at all. I am somewhat familiar with the rating system.

First of all, you tell me it sounds like a PSU fault. I've never heard of a PSU fault and had no luck finding out what it is through my searches on the internet.

Second, you mention that you have no way of determing my expertise level and that I should call an engineer. By looking at my profile you should be able to see that I have no history or past activity other than today's one question and then conclude that I am most likely an amateur. At which point I would explain what a PSU fault is.

Third, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings by giving you a rating that DID NOT HELP ME! But, it didn't! I DID review your profile and I must admit that I was a bit curious why out of the 82 solutions you posted 2 people gave you the highest rating of 'Solved' only 1 rating for 'Almost There' and that was after you complained because your advice to them was also not helpful for their particular problem. And then you have 6 scores of 'Thanks For Trying' That left 72 solutions 'Not Rated' After reading through a good deal of your responses it became quite clear that most of the time you have given very vague responses like "Look in the owner's manual" or "Look it up on Google!"

Believe me, by the time I posted my problem to this web site I had spent days researching my problem online. As I am sure most of the other people on here did the same. So, to get a vague answer like yours is rather frustrating.

My advice, stop posting all these vague answers and give answers that might truly help people and perhaps your score will go up on it's own because you ARE truuly helping people vs. posting dozens of solutions simply to get your "Ranking" up.

Sorry if this offends you but I truly shoot from the hip and call things honestly as I seem them. Your initial advice was useless and by posting a second message whining about it is a waste of my time. And PLEASE, don't bother sending me another message trying to prove yourself, it will simply be a further waste of my time!!!!

Hi! Our RCA F32632SB also just shut off the other day. Doesn't even click when we press the button. We removed the back and the fuse was blown, so we replaced it, but there was a big green spark (observed by my 7 year old grandson when I plugged it in), and the new fuse also blew. What do you think?

I recieved this TV, hooked it up to cable and wall, and enjoyed it for all of 20 minutes before the screen went black. It made no sound, and before it went out it said 'EBBY' in blue in the top right corner of the screen, which leads me to think it isn't a fuse. The cable works fine, and I tried un-plugging and re-plugging it, and pressing on/off on the TV as well as with the remote. Did I make a silly mistake somehow, or is it the TV? Any advice would be great.

This sounds like a PSU fault. Since ther is no way to determine your expertise then the best solution is to call an engineer.

You didn't appreciate my advice then!
Either you don't understand the rating system or you are genuinely upset by something I said.
If you are capable of a repair then you should let me know so I might guide you through it?

Your RCA TV has problems. You did not specify the model of TV. I will tell you, most of the RCA sets that will come on and shut down are nightmares for us TV repair people. The best solution is to replace this TV. I have had real headaches with RCAs that have your problem. Even if you have it repaired....its only a matter of days when it will continue to shut down. This is very good advice, though sorry to hear your TV is on the fritz. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

TV turned off

The fault for all of your TVs' is stuck in standby which would point to a fault on the power supply most likely caused by a diode. If you can check this for yourself otherwise find a competant technician. Hope this helps.
