My Windows is Vista Home Premium. Keyboard settings English and Hebrew. Control Panel /Regional and Language Settings/Administrative/Local routinely set to Hebrew. I had the downloaded AIO_CDB_Full_Non-Network_enu Vista driver (I only have a disk for XP!) installed on my PC. Every few weeks the fax program (faxing via the HP Solution center or directly from any program – Word, Excel, Notebook, etc.) would discontinue functioning. All other functions, as well as faxing directly from the 4255 itself would work properly. To reactivate the fax program I would disconnect the 4255, restart and reinstall by plugging back the USB cable. If this would not help, I would do a total uninstall (including L_3, etc) + reinstall and this would work for another couple of weeks until the next break down. And so on. More recently, after re-installing the newly downloaded driver for the 4255 All-in-One, the following problems occur:
The “Fax test” immediately after reinstall fails.
Nevertheless, faxing from the PC (HP Solution center – Word, Excel) is possible. However, titles and writings in fax-related windows, including the faxing window and fax log, in contrast to earlier installs during the months January and February, appear in a newer and larger format and partially in Hebrew and partially as ??????. If I want to write an address or name in Hebrew in the Fax window fields (after toggling the language from English to Hebrew by Shift+Alt) it appears as Gibberish, though at the same time in Word it is written correctly in Hebrew. If the language under Control Panel /Regional and Language Settings/Administrative/Local is changed from Hebrew to English with reboot, all titles in the windows appear as ????. This occurred also after uninstall & download + reinstall while the Control Panel /Regional and Language Settings/Administrative/Local was set to English. Examples have been reattached to this message.
After the most recent 2 reinstalls the scan program also failed! Even when trying to scan directly from the 4255, the message “You need to install or run the program” appears in the device window.
In Summary: I want to know the exact language and other settings that should enable me to download/reinstall the correct HP driver that should be functional, including for the fax and scan programs, with all windows appearing preferably with English text or, otherwise, the fax program appearing with Hebrew titles, but than completely Hebrew without any titles and writing as ???? and/or Gibberish.
