Re: New printer and after set up won't print

If you have not missed any CLEAR plastic film on cartridge seals or head assembly, and have the printer cartridges installed correctly (make sure there is a snap and then no "wiggle" afterwards) then you perhaps failed to clean the heads? New cartridges/heads must be "cleaned" or "deep cleaned" sometimes several times, before ink begins to penetrate the dry orifices. They are nearly microscopic, so this can take several tries. And cold weather can drastically increase the "wait" (hours needed for printer to be left alone, let ink flow down into dry/new heads). The latter requires patience, a commodity rare in "new purchases", I know, but "new toy anxiety" does not alter "physics".

My printer told me to replace the black cartridge, which I did. It still continue to say the black cartridge needs replacing even though there is a brand new one in there. How can I resolve?

This usually happens for two reasons. The first is that many people often forget to remove the protective plastic off of the circuit contacts on the bottom of the cartridge. These circuits allow the printer to communicate with the cartridge so that it can detect ink levels and such. The second reason is a less obvious one, and probably constitutes the most common cause for your particular problem. Over the life of a cartridge, repeated use causes minute amounts of ink to leak out. This ink can collect on the print head (what makes contact with the circuit board part). The ink on the print head will then sometimes form a coat on the part of the printer that makes contact with the cartridge. If this happens, the printer will be unable to communicate with the cartridge--meaning it won't be able to detect that a new cartridge has been installed.

To clean the print head, remove the ink cartridge and set it aside. In the print cartridge carriage (the part of the printer where you insert the cartridge), find the area where the printer contacts the cartridge circuitry. Gently clean it with a damp cloth. Use a clean area of the cloth with each wipe so that you don't wipe the ink back onto the contact. If you have trouble getting the ink off, spray some windex onto the cloth (NOT INTO THE PRINTER). When ink no longer transfers onto the cloth, allow 5 minutes or so for any dampness to evaporate off the printer. Reinstall the cartridge and cross your fingers.

Hopefully this will help you out. Ink on the print head is usually the problem in cases such as this. If you found this solution helpful, please leave a positive rating!

My Dad bought new ink cartridges ( black and color) and installed them in the printer and it is not registering that they are installed. What are some things I should check for and how can I fix this????

After installing new ink cartridges in your Dell all-in-one 926 printer, you may receive an error message telling you the print does not recognize the new cartridges. Refilled or third-party cartridges, which Dell does not recommend using with the 926, often trigger the error message. You may also receive this error after you have been using the same ink cartridges for some time. Whether the cartridges are new or not, the error can be caused by a number of sources. Following the steps below should clear up print cartridge problem.

  • 1

Open the Dell 926's front cover with the power on and wait for the cartridge carriage to come to a stop. Remove the ink cartridges by pressing on the tabs at the top of each cartridge. Check the cartridges to make sure you have removed all of the blue protective plastic film. Look for the "Dell" logo stamped into the cartridges' lids to ensure they are genuine cartridges.

  • 2

Clean the shiny metal portions of the ink cartridges with a damp microfiber cloth. Allow each cartridge to dry completely.

  • 3

Clean out any paper, staples or other debris that you may be able to see, then reinsert the cartridges into their appropriate slots. Put the black ink cartridge into the left slot and the color cartridge into the right slot. Make sure both click back into place.

  • 4

Close the Dell 926's front cover and turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord and USB cable from the printer for five seconds, then reconnect them.

  • If your Dell 926 fails to recognize the print cartridges after following the above instructions,

take it to a repair shop for servicing.

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It’s best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. for more information…....

When FIne Cartridges run out of ink, replace them. using the following steps.

    Handling Fine Cartridges
-Once the protective tape is removed, do not touch the electrical contacts or Print Head Nozzles on a FINE Cartridge. The printer may not print out properly if you touch it.

-Once a FINE cartridge is installed, do not remove it from the printer and leave it out in the open. This will cause the FINE Cartridge to dry out., and the printer may not operate properly when it is reinstalled. To maintain optimal print quality, use a FINE Cartridge within 6 months of first use.
-Color ink may be consumed even when printing a black and white document or when black and white printing is specified.
Color ink is also consumed in Print Head Cleaning and Print Head Deep Cleaning, which may be necessary to maintain the printer's performance.

My epson stylus c84 prints, but there's no ink on the paper

This might sound stupid, but did you remove the plastic film that covers the head?
Try this, if still nothing happens, go through your printer settings and run a "Cleaning" cycle on it.
