Page 24 of the manual says it is a 'Brake On' fault.
3 & 2 *** ** Brake on fault 1. Electromagnetic brake driver shorted. 2. Electromagnetic brake coil open. Check the brake / freewheel lever is in the 'Drive' position before turning on.

Download n install 2 softwares for G2 from ZOOM website.
1. USB subsystem. Driver to connect zoom fx to PC/Notebook.
2. EDIT & SHARE. Software to create/copy sound patch.

Connect USB cable from G2 to PC/notebook.
No need adapter power supply, because the power is supply via
USB cable from PC/notebook.
Open EDIT & SHARE. It's easy,like copy,paste,rename,delete etc.
Just open the menu that you want to do and follow the
instructions. Sound patch can be load from files that you
download, or create it in EDIT & SHARE.
Patch can be load one files or group. Right Click the sound that you want to change,copy-paste it from new file/sound.
You can import/export files/patches from/to PC library (downloaded files).
It is recomended that you save/backup your original files,before load new sound.

Make sure you are zoomed out all the way, many lenses when zoomed in will only let you stop the aperture down so far at certain focal zoom lengths.

1. Try zooming in on the online diagram. 2. Copy and paste into a paint shop type program, then enlarge it.

Blades are dirty.

Test by setting up for 1" shoot and look into the lens.
If blades close late then they are in need of an PM.

I believe there is a ring around the button the shutter button (the button you press to take the photos. Your sort of push it left or right (near or far). The digital zoom should activate after it goes past its optical zoom range. Push it only slightly to slow down the zoom process.

if you take pictures on digital zoom, the picture quality may not be acceptable. Try don’t use digital zoom.
digital zoom is not really zoom, it just enlarge a portion of the image, thus 'simulating' optical zoom. That is why you lose image quality on digital zoom.

Hold the zoom twist-ring and push, or click it up or down, depending on which way you are holding the lens.

Canon Customer support re this I suspect the Zoom mechanism is damaged A rapair may be costly
