I have a Generic External CD Rom Drive and...
I have a Generic External CD Rom Drive for my Gateway mt6711 laptop and Vista says it a unknown device and will not recognize it. I don't know the manufacturer's name as it is a generic external cd rom player I purchased from ebay. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

Can you boot from this external drive maybe you need to set some bios options.

- Well this you have to change some settings in the bios. Not all laptops have this older wants do not. Check also if the cdrom works on an other system.Yes
