Yellow ink not printing after cleaning utilities run; others ok

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R800. I had not used the printer for a number of months, ran the various cleaning utilities, installed fresh ink cartridges and all is well EXCEPT the yellow does not print. On the nozzle check pattern test, no yellow at all appears. On the automatic print head test, I get only the barest smudge of yellow; all other colors are perfect. I've run the utilities more than 10 times (!) and the most I get is a very slight smudge of yellow, while all the other colors pass the cleaning utility tests perfectly. What to do?

Your print head is bad. Try cleaning it with a tissue. You may see if you can find a replacement for that printehead.

This is already a printhead issue, unfortunately. Printer has not been used for a long time that is why the nozzles got clogged.
Make sure that you are using a correct genuine epson cartridge.
If your printer is over a year old now, please log on to epson.com. Go to the drivers and support page. Click on help me find a service center to the right of the page to send your printer to an epson certified servicer near to your area.

Epson Stylus Photo R800 not printing certain color

You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the print then a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase a new printer.

Out of ink?

Many printer cartridges may have ink but the printer believes otherwise. Often this problem can be solved by placing a small piece of black tape over a window in the cartridge that the printer looks into to identify ink level. If you cartridge has such a window, try a piece of electrical tape. You might be surprised.

Epson Stylus C86 smearing

Your printer has ink build up inside it. This comes from cleaning cartridges and builds-up steadily over time. Remove top cover. Wet a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol (available at drug stores) and clean the inside. use a cotton bud where the swab gets entangled.

Epson Stylus Photo R800 Print Head Nozzles ??

Don't use nozzles clean function, besides ink consuming it can cause damages that cannot be fixed: black lines on the back side of the page that will be permanent. Instead put two photo paper together (2x260 gr) and push the two papers together into the printer while printing a motive including many colors. Do so a couple of times and the clogg usually disappears. Good luck! jonk

Epson R800 Red Color Problem

Actually magenta is the weakest compared to cyan and
yellow using even K3 inks. Now epson is releasing
K3 with vivid magenta ink. Using any color management
I have found it very difficult to reach a real red without
a lot of tweaking in my color profiles. Now it appears
that Epson sees the problem and is changing magenta
out for vivid magenta ink to solve the weak magenta.

Epson R800 prints very wet, very very smeared pictures

it depends on the type of paper you are using. it is how the ink chemicals react to the chemicals on the photo paper.
