Re: blue ghosting

This could be a convergance problem, if there is such an adjustment described in the manual and it doesn't work, make sure the optics are clean.

Ghosting or a 3D image. A yellow and blue ghosting or shadowing image. Looks much like the top picture in the "picture ghosting image" entry. Is this a convergence problem?

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

I think I lost a gun? Picture seems to be losing a color. lines are off and can't seem to get a good picture.

If you can find a channel or video with pure red, green, and blue you can check the quality of each individual color. If by "Lines are off" you mean the picture has a ghosting or 3-d look than that is the convergence. You can do some adjustment by entering the user menu and scrolling down to the second page and selecting the convergence option. Set the center crosshair then work your way through the positions. If you can't adjust one color in one direction it is probably your convergence IC's and related components.

How to get rid of blue ghosting

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Color is off

Center the controls as best you can, disregarding the pix for the moment. Then, do a mechanical setup, getting the alignment as close as you can. Now, perform the electrical setup and see what you get. If you can't get it any closer, you'll have to address the convergence probem that we suspected you have...accordianman

You need new convergence ICs . They cost about 10.00 each you will need two. They are located on a large aluminum heat sink with an STK number stamped on them. They will have to be soldered in. If you can solder you will be able to do this repair yourself. Let me know if you need ay additional Info.
