Question about DXG Technology DXG-305V Digital Camera
Changed the battery recently and the camera keeps cutting off after about 2 seconds, no time to change any setting, have made sure the batteries are in the correct position, the batteries are rechargable NI-MH 1000mah AAA. The package said made for digital cameras and manual says to use alkaline, so am i using the wrong battery?
The DXG305's battery metering sys works by measuring voltage. You can have a set of 1.2V NI-AH @ infinite Ah (4x1.2V=4.8V) and the stupid thing will still shut down! It only draws approx 300mA max. The DXG requires more than 6V constant; I know this 'cause I hooked it up an external bench power supply and dialed in the voltages, the thing starts to crap out at anything less than 6V. Expensive alkaline e2 might hold up for a bit, but my solution was to build an external 7V battery pack using 6 Ni-MH AAs and a battery cartridge. The DXG30X is a half ass POS designed product, but it's was great way to waste time and exercise ones trouble shooting skills.
