Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD GE SIDE-BY-SIDE MODEL NUMBER GSS25WGPJBB. TWO WEEKS AGO IT STOPPED DISPENSING ICE AND WATER. ICE IS BEING MADE, SO THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM. I REPLACED THE DISPENSER BOARD AND IT BEHAVES JUST LIKE THE ONE I REPLACED. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WORK AND CHANGE WHEN YOU PRESS ON THEM, BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO DISPENSE SOMETHING THE LIGHTS DIM AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THERE IS ALSO A CLICKING NOISE BEING MADE FROM IN THE FREEZER SIDE SOMEWHERE. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND CAN LAST 5 TO 10 MINUTES OR LONGER. WHEN THE CLICKING STARTS, IT SHUTS THE COMPRESSOR AND FANS OFF COMPLETELY AND THE DIGITAL DISPLAY INSIDE OF THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT AS WELL. WE CAN STOP THE CLICKING BY TURNING THE FREEZER TEMPERATURE UP FOR A WHILE AND THEN TURNING IT BACK DOWN, BUT IT IS ALL TEMPORARY. ALL OF THIS SEEMS TO HAVE STARTED AT THE SAME TIME, SO I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE RELATED SOMEHOW. ANY CLUES AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT?
We have had the same problems. First the ice dispenser stopped. Then the water dispenser worked intermittenly, and finally the freezer stopped cooling. We had a repairman come out and he replaced the motherboard, but one thing he said struck me as helpful. If there is power surge, the whole thing might just need a reset. So before calling GE or ordering a new motherboard, unplug the refrigerator and plug it back in. See if that fixes it before you pay $350 to fix it.

When mine doesn't dispense I take the ice maker out and remove all ice and replace, it works for a while again, I think there is too much moisture and the ice sticks together.

I'm having the same problem. except mine stops cooling when the temp lights go out in the fridge... I CAN STOP THE CLICKING BY TURNING THE FREEZER TEMPERATURE UP FOR A WHILE AND THIS ALSO STARTS THE COOLING AGAIN, BUT IT IS ALL TEMPORARY. It started with just no ice and water dispensing and then it stopped cooling...

There is a mother board in a compartment on the back of the fridge. I think the clicking you hear may be coming from some relays on this board. I haven't had any trouble with them on units as new as yours but the earlier versions gave a lot of trouble. It controls everything on this machine and is the only thing I can think of that would relate to both problems, but it isn't a cheap item you want to replace just to see if that's it. Check your ownwers manual for warranty info, some of these units carry a longer warranty on the mother board past the basic warranty.
