AGP Radeon 3850 - Puzzling TV-out issue

I have an AGP Radeon 3850 and I can't get the TV-out to work properly. Under Display > Settings, the second monitor is displayed but grayed out. When I load up Catalyst, it detects the TV, but it is grayed out as well. I would assume a fundamental incompatibility here, save the fact that I can swap primary displays (i.e. set the TV as my primary display and disable my monitor) and the TV works. Any thoughts?

I have up-to-date versions of the video card drivers and Catalyst Control Center, and am running Windows XP.
