Next time it overheats, check the bottom radiator hose. If the engine is hot and the hose is cold you have a thermostat sticking closed and will need replaced. Has anyone replace the thermostat lately? They can get reversed when installed. Don't laugh it has happened. Another thing most thermostats are made with a weep hole to rid the block of air. If this hole becomes plugged and you have a bad intake or head gasket leaking coolant the level can get below the thermostat it will overheat. Has to be in coolant to work.

SOURCE: 92 toyota celica cranks does'nt start no spark at plugs 124,000 miles

SOunds like the timing belt has broke. To check you can take off distributor cap and turn over engine and see if the rotor turns. If not you have a busted timing belt. Please rate this a fixya if this helps. Thanks!!!

SOURCE: 1995 toyota camry-stalling out when driving

You do not have to replace the fuel pump at a specific mileage.
I hate to speculate without physically inspecting the vehicle, but, my best solution here & now may be the fuel pump. Now, I would not go out & buy one before you had proper diagnosis. Here is one test, but you will need to have to experience the stall again, and then test to see if you have fuel pressure at the injectors. If you have no fuel pressure, replace the pump. Fuel filter issues do not "come & go", they stay, and your car would not run properly. Also, a fuel pump failure will not set a computer code on this particular model vehicle. Hope this helps..

SOURCE: car doesn't have any power

This happened to me and yes it was caused by a timing belt i replaced it and guess what? My car took forever to pick up speed but once i hit 30mi than it was fine. So i found that one valve was bended so i had to rebuild the heads now its fine one way to find out if you have a faulty valve is by unpluging one of the spark plugs wires you are probably running on 3 cylinders thats why it has no power until it reaches some speed then its fine but when you stop and try to go again it does the same thing i recomed 4 you to go check the heads i bet thats what is wrong with your car. Youll end up paying arround 500 bucks! ! Parts and labor but its a. 1990 celica worth it? Yes its the best car i have ever owned!! And if it happens again i will fix it i love my celica! !

let me guess car has clutch pedal 99% here in USA never seen nor dreamed of ,right and I have one too,for 6 decades me,
first one for is honda motor cycle and 30 + others later.
all cars with any M/T box the clutch will fail. all do about 2 times longer lasting than a A/T box, my record is 150,000 miles
but was only a clutch slave cylinder bad.

your clutch is bad.
do the 2 man test.
but first, see if DOT4 fluid leaks on MC , bothsides of fire wall
MC = master cylinder for the clutch
the look at the slave at the bell. no leaks, never have I seen one now leak at 25 years old that be impossible ever.
the 2 man test, you pump the clutch, pedal
and person 2 looks at the slave and most move about 1 inch. 25mm
click see slave work here ,it must move fully !!!!!

I have a 2002 325i BMW with 85K miles. It's had temp gauge problems for quite a while but until recently had no signs of real overheating. (I drive her only rarely though). The gauge would stay...

To verify if cooling system damage exists.
Drain the engine coolant.
Remove the intake manifold.
Remove the plastic heater core feed pipe.(located under the intake manifold).
If the coolant pipe cannot be removed after removing securing hardware, the VANOS banjo bolt must also be removed thus allowing additional clearance needed to remove the pipe.
Visually inspect the front (inside) of the coolant pipe.
If the plastic on the inside of the coolant pipe shows no signs of deterioration (smooth surface) the engine should be reassembled using new gaskets and O rings where necessary.
If the plastic on the inside of the coolant pipe shows signs of deteriorated (worn away, bubbling, ect) this is an indication that the engine has been severely overheated and these components must be replaced.....Cylinder head gasket, all coolant hoses, all plastic coolant pipes, coolant expansion tank and cap, radiator, water pump, thermostat, oil and filter....

Hope this is some help to you ??

My 2002 toyota celica has recently started overheating and smoking, we have topped up the oil checked amnd topped up the water/coolant numerous times and i can drive for maybe a mile before it overheats...

your coolant is not staying in the cooling system, that is why you have to refill it and that is why it is overheating. it is leaving via a crack or bad gasket and going into the combustion or lubrication system and that is why it is not running well. a real mechanic has to put his hands and eyes on it soon.

1990 Toyota celica 1.6 overheating when it runs for about 6 miles I changed water pump and thermostat it's not blowing any water out of tail pipe and no water in oil what's should I do

Start vechile, let it warm up, turn on heater, is there heat from the heater?
No? You need to bleed the system better. Jack the front of the car up, remove radiator cap, while throttle is increased add more coolant, then with throttle still increased put radiator cap back on and release throttle. Is there now heat?
