Question about ASUS P5RD1-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

Start up problem

I am currently trying to build a pc using a asus p5nd2-sli mobo. all of the hardware seems to be running properly and all of the fans are running perfect. the processor is nice and cool. the problem is that the computer will freeze on the mobo intro screen where it will ask you to press delete to start. i try to press delete but nothing happens. i will turn the pc off and try hitting the delete key before the intro screen ever comes on, and it will say that it is entering set up but again..... nothing happens. got any solutions to this odd problem?

Have you tried reflashing your bios chip with the latest bios?I think it's 0701,im not sure what socket you have so, you would need to go to asus.com go site at the top click "download" then next page look for "download on the right then enter motherboard your socket then model of your motherboard and follow bios flash instructios and enter your model etc,.it's easy enough then

Beep Codes?

Hi,

This board has been known to have some issues, the Asus' PEG optimizations aren't fully supported by some video cards like the Gigabyte GeForce 6600 GT. One example of a fully supporting video card is the Asus Extreme Radeon EAX1900XTX.

If possible, try using a different video card (one that supports
Asus' PEG optimizations - PEG Link Mode overclocking feature; PEG Link for single/dual graphics cards ). Or you may want to try and disable the PEG entirely.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turn up or should you need further information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Try replacing ram on another slot (common solution for most of the problems like this) , remove the cmos battery and place it back after few moments. Try remove and place Graphics card again.

It should solve your problem.

Sound not working properly

Hi ragnar590,
Please go over pages 5-12 to 5-17 in your manual.
Allow Realtek's auto jack-sensing software to detect your sound jack. If this software is not installed, install it. (Double check your speaker system by plugging into another PC). If after doing all this & you still have intermittent sound, either the jack coming off the board is bad or the onboard sound chip is bad. The Asus P5ND2-SLI was made in 2005 & is no longer in warranty. You can also try setting up the front panel audio coming off the board if your case has front or side audio/mic jacks. See page 2-31 in your manual.
It this options works than the problem is with the rear sound jack.
If this does not give you sound than the audio chip is the problem. Suggest you buy a PCI sound card & disable the onboard ALC850 within the bios.

Good luck ragnar590!
Mike

Blank Screen, no beeps, New Build

Hi Durmo, your troubles may be the SLI card. If you are using a single 8500GT make sure your SLI card is plugged into the motherboard as a single graphics card. See page 3-9 in your manual. If your 8500GT has dual out puts check both for display. Only one will show you display.
If you have this set correctly & you have tested your monitor on another system (& it is good) yet no display from the system than contact Asus. This board was make in 2007 & is warranted up to 2010. You can do this online or call Asus at 1-812-282-2787 M-F EST. Other countrys click the dropdown menu at Asus home page. http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=473&model=1474&modelmenu=1

Post if you need more info.
Good luck!
