Question about Balance CN6555 Notebook
I read an email that was posted on Sept. 3 about not being abled to power up a Balance CN6555 Notebook. I have the same computer and problem. I can plug in the adapter but it will not recharge. The light comes on showing that it is charging and then goes off after a couple of seconds. I have tried forcing the plug in different positions, but it doesn't help. If the power jack is bad, then how do I fix it?
You can either re-solder it or replace it. Either way you need to get to it. With so many model laptops available today its hard to know exactly how to open each one without the service manual. The "power jack" you can get on E-bay or at a "large" electronic supply house. you may e able to get the service manual there too. If you are adventurous and mechanically inclined you could attempt to open it without the manual. Usually behind the rubber foot pads you'll find hidden screws to remove. You most likely DO NOT need to remove the screen in this case. You will need to remove the keyboard and outer cover. Some parts are designed to snap in place. Be very careful how you unsnap them. Once broken it will not fit together correctly. As soon as you can see the connector and its solder points, STOP! There is no need to remove anything else. Either re-solder or remove it so you can take it to a shop to get the replacement part. Then re-solder it in place and re-assemble it. With some further searching you can locate a couple of websites which show pictures of a laptop (different model) taken apart to give you an idea what lies ahead. If all this worries you, your next option is to have it repaired at a local repair shop.
