Re: Screen size changes

RCA hads a problem with it's sets switching back and forth on their own. This is covered under warranty. Some say first turn off the autoformat feature in Customer Menu, if this doesn't work, a board need to be replaced. I would contact Manufacturer and ask is under warranty. RCA/GE same !

Peoples heads are cut off on reg tv not in hd

Since your tv is cutting the heads off durring regular or analog signal but not high deffinition sounds to me like you have to set the aspect ratio different or such as going to your picture format from the main screen. Play with the settings from zoom, full screen, no overscan, cinerama and see if this helps.

Can only get "4:3" and "compressed 16:9" screen format. Want full "16:9" not compressed. How?

HDTV ready means that it will process HDTV signal to be viewed on you set. The size of your screen is still in a 4:3 ratio. Unless you have a true 16:9 size sceen you cannot get the full 16:9 picture. The actual physical size of the sceen is what makes TV's true HD or not. In other words, the screen has to be twice as wide as it is tall or 16:9. Your screen is almost square or 4:3. It can only show a compressed version of the 16:9. Thanks for using fixya.

go left and right (arrow buttons) on your tv remote to go from 4:3 format, widescreen, 14:9, etc. If you have non-hdtv (full screen), its best to leave it on cinerama or 4:3/

I have a T5054 TV and the picture has zoomed in and is way too big, however in the picture settings menu the zoom option is not highlighted in Component mode.

There could be a problem, but verify the settings as listed in the owner's manual as follows:

1 Press the MENU button to display the menu.
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Picture, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Size, then press the ENTER button.
3 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select the screen format you want.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the EXIT button to exit.
16:9 : Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
Zoom1 : Magnifies the size of the picture on the screen.
Zoom2 : Expands the Zoom1 format picture.
Wide Fit : Enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen.
4:3 : Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode.
Just Scan : Use this function to see the full image without any cutoff when DTV
or HDMI 720p/1080i signals are input.
Press the P.SIZE button on the remote control to change the picture size.

And realize the restrictions as listed:

• In TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO, and COMPONENT(480i, 480p) modes, all screen
modes can be selected. (16:9 ➞ Zoom1 ➞ Zoom2 ➞ 4:3)
• In COMPONENT(720p, 1080i) or HDMI(720p, 1080i) mode, 16:9, 4:3 and
Wide Fit can be selected.
• In Zoom1, Zoom2 and Wide Fit modes, you can move the picture on the
screen by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button.
•You can not change the picture size when PIP is set to Double.
•When Double ( , ) mode has been set in PIP, the Picture Size cannot
be set.
•Wide Fit can be used when watching a Digital HD (High Definition) signal.
Wide Fit sets the optimum picture format by expanding it both horizontally and
vertically. For example, you can reset the picture in 4:3 format to 16:9. Wide Fit
does not support all external devices (DVD, VCR etc.).

Keep us posted.

Picture Fades

Here is one possible solution:

1. Go back there and get the remote for the RCA.
2. Towards the bottom right you'll see a "FORMAT" button. Press it and look at the screen each time.
3. This changes the screen format between Cinerama, 16:9, 4:3, and all the Zoom formats.
4. ONE of those should be what you're looking for...

Is there a way to reset this TV back to factory defaults through the menu?Try that. Otherwise it is a more serious problem. Call RCA to see if they can help.
