Question about Mitsubishi WD-62725 62" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Correct voltage for lamp connection?

The lamp in my set blew after being used for a couple of thousand hours over max life. I replaced the bulb with a new one and got the same problem as many others, error code 34. The set shuts down after a short time and the lamp light stays a steady red. I've tested the new lamp and think it is bad, but I would like to know the correct voltage to look for on the lamp connection before I put in another lamp. I'd hate to blow another bulb if the problem is not with the lamp itself.

Re: Correct voltage for lamp connection?

(Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977020 3. (Lamp may light and go out) Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977020 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977020 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Lamp Power PCB (ballast) part # 939P978010 7. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977020 .

With a dim picture even if lamp looks ok I would make it suspect number one---going to have to decide if you want to buy a new lamp to find out--average life is 1-2 thousand hours.

No video, sound only. Not moved or anything, just picture stopped.

I am not familiar with your TV, but I might be able to help. Sounds like the lamp blew! These lamps only last about 4 to 5 thousand hours. There should be a lamp access on the back of your TV. unplug your TV and remove the lamp housing and inspect the bulb. Be sure not to touch the lens. If it is blown, replace with a new one!

1 Answer will be about 5 years now with this tv....2nd bulb....was 2,000......ends up costing 2250....and buy another tv ....but to buy a bulb is simply cheaper....short end

I can't believe a lamp would cost that much. I service LCD and DLP projectors and the cost of lamp range between 250 to 500 max. Lamps will lose alot of life if they are turned on and off alot. The mfg's rate the life of a lamp if it is turned on and remain on till they burn out. THe lamp is given a high voltage when they start. This cuts the life down. Try searching for lamps to see if you can find a cheaper price online.

I have a sony kf-60we610 2004 and the bulb is good, but the tv doesn't stay as bright as it use to and I have the brightness max out. any ideas?

IF the lamp has been in the set for a while it may be your problem---some of these sets before the lamp fails the picture will get darker--lamp will look ok but can cause this trouble.

If you replaced it at some time with a "Generic" replacement other than an Original Sony--that can also be the trouble.

Lamp life is about 2,000 hours and time can pass quickly.

Let me know if I can help--I am here to help.

MD5880N replaced bulb and worked for 2 hours now nothing

Place heat shielding around the lamp to prevent overheat; use cooling spray (freon) to cool any chips or, circuit boards near the lamp as you attempt to start the set check the lamp for the correct serial # voltage etc.

My 52 inch rear projecter rca tv model number r52wh74 picture goes black after a little wile and dont come back for awile staying off longer and longer all the time. but there is sound.

It seems that you have either a defective lamp or ballast, i recommend that you replace the lamp first, if it doesn't work it means that it's most probable that your ballast doesn't have enought voltage to keep up with your lamp. I recommend you get a Philips lamp since it's going to give you a brighter image and also it has a longer life spand 6-8 thousand hours, on the other hand, the generic lamps last 3-6 thousand hours and the image is not that bright, so if you're looking for quality get the Philips.

I want to buy a second hand rear projection tv, around in 100 pounds is available in the market locally in london from private sellers i am worried about the lamp life, because its expensive to purchase...

an original lamp (original brand name of the tv) can be "alive" there for some years. if you want to buy a tv an suspect that the one is good or not just turn around that area one or a couple of weeks if still working with a great bright and crispy color is good symptom> (some re-manufacture lamps just work a couple of hours even new)
The lamp's life is a question mark in this technology (optimistic ingeniers (brands) count these hours as 1, 2 ,3, (thousand hours) (actually some manufactures count the time ""it is a simple timer the microprocessor can manage pretty well, but is not the mean of a good o bad lamp""
but i recommend my customers to have a spare lamp (just in case you are watching a beatles show) and blowns, you have it in the garage and (consulting the user manual) you change it a as regular bulb in your house.
But the lamp life "and this is the tip": (only two states)
  1. the picture tends to look dark or dimm (is logical because the high intensity the lamp works tends to create a tiny black surface on the heater and tends to consume more current and the answer is a dark picture as i told you already.
  2. the lamp blown (of course the tv cannot work and the LED "lamp" turns on or keep steady on the front panel with a complete dark screen.

My sony kds50a2000 failed lastnight. Bulb only?

There could be something else that caused the lamp to fail but if it has 6 to 8 thousand hours on it that is the expected life and it is not uncommon for a lamp to fail this way.

No picture, hear sound, television will shut off after a few seconds.

Lamp life is only a few thousand hours. Hopefully its only the lamp that made to noise. Don't turn on again until lamp is replaced.
