Memory upgrade I have a HP media center 7160n that came with 2 512mb sticks in it.I just put 2 1024mb sticks in and the computer recognized them, but my computer seems to be running even slower than it did with just 1 gig.And I mean slower . Any thoughts from anybody. I feel as if I just flushed 89 bucks down the drain.

Re: memory upgrade

Some motherboards require you to install memory in slot 1 and 3. leaving 2 and 4 open. go into bios and make sure it reconizes it

Re: memory upgrade

Did you replace the 240 pin DDR2 ram or did you buy (2) 1024Mb sticks of slower DDR ram? Computer has 4 slots, 2 for DDR2 and 2 for slower DDR...just a thought: maybe replaced with slower type.

I have an HP Media Center m7060n and am looking to upgrade from factory defaults to better RAM and a video card capable of gaming. Suggestions please?

Well your motherboard will take upto 4Gb of memory but the problem is that board does not have a AGP or a PCI Express slot to upgrade the graphics. You can get graphic cards which fit in a standard PCI slot but if youre looking at a top gaming computer i dont recommend this. You really need to do a complete upgrade including motherboard, CPU, Memory and a good PCI Express graphic card. But before doing this i would have a good chat with a few PC shops at how much they can put together a new custom made computer for you and that way the PC you have is still complete to either sell or keep as a second computer. Cheers from Scott and please vote

Make sure it is the correct ram for your computer. If you just added one ram chip then try swapping them and make sure they have a tight fit.

To test the new chip replace the old one with it and turn on your machine. If it doesn't see it then it is either bad or not the correct one.

Let me know how it goes.

My computer is really slow. it has 128 mg of RAM.

Check your computer brand and see how much GB your meomory can take, but 4GB will be perfect for xp and vista. check your pc brand either if Dell and Hp and check it online how much the high meomory can take.

Best Regards

yeah thats a normal issue with the dimension 2400 as the older bios only supports a max of 1gb of memory you will need to go to the dell website which ive linked below and get the bios update which will give you support up to 2gb-pc3200 ddr memory

I have a Compaq Presario, model #: SR2150NX memory problem

To Be pricise ...there is no hardware problem.
The problem can be two.

1.Your computer supports max of 1.5 GB RAM.....For this check with other vendors too.

2.You have to update your BIOS.

If you can provide me the motherboard no and details i can clarify more on it

Does not read my Memory stick any more

Hello Cbaltzer,

Try to use in another PC, your memory stick, and see if work, if so, perhaps it is a problem with your other PC, or the USB port, see if is 2.0 or 1.0 USB compatible.
good luck

Need new burner

if you have ide connectors (normally there is 2, 1 black, 1 blue) on the motherboard which you probably will have; purchase an IDE type one as you get the cable with them and use a power connector which you will have spare from your power supply unit as they are cheaper and easy to fit. See below for what to look for on your motherboard called IDE0 and IDE1
