Reception
1. check your antenna hook up. Make sure the cable is tight. If your antenna is old, you may have to buy a new one. Also check the cable connection to the antenna, that it is tight. You might want to check take the cable off the antenna and see if it is clean from weather wear. If the antenna is inside you might try moving it outside and to a higher position.

2. if you have cable you need to contact their customer support and ask them to check their transmission to you. They can tell if the reception is getting to their box. They may offer to come out to your house to check the connections inside and check the box. Before they do that, ask what it will cost. I did not ask that question and they charged me $60 and only replaced the cable hooked to the box which I could have done.

3. There are antenna's you can buy that will work inside the house. I have one that picks up stations that are 30 miles away. The stations that far away are not always on or good but my point is that the local stations come in very good and clear.

TV reception breaking up pretty bad because of rainy weather here in Brooklyn New York I live in an apartment and I'm using a Winegard amplified antenna does anyone have any suggestions what improving...

Television signals are at such high frequencoies they will be reflected form buildings and other objects, and attentuated by moisture in the air and through the leqaves of trees, etc. In large cities yourt TV singals can arrive from different paths Digital TV signals bounce as di the old "analog TV" signals but the technology allows the receiver to ignor singals that are out of phase so the picture is "clean" despite multipleversions of the signal arriving at the antenna at slightly different times. That said, if the signal is weak, there is little you can do other than experimanet with positioning the receivng antenna. Typically, building walls attentuate televisoin signals so locating the receving antenna close to a window often provides for stronger signal reception.

Amplified antennas cannot amplify what is not there. Moisture in the form of fog, rain and snow will attenuate television signals and if thre signals are marginal in good weather, they may be virtually not-existent in wet weather. Digital TV signals are threshold dependent. When they are toow eak, you won't see anything. Back in the old analog TV days, you could see a "snowy picture" but digital TV doesn't allow for that. The signal is either strong enough to be viewed or it is not.

You have few real options if you do not subscribe to cable or a satellite tv provider. Amplified antennas can help but if you need them you live in a marginal TV reception area to begin with and more prone to the vagaries of weather and the seasons.

My baird 42 inch hd tv has built in free view but

You need to find out if Free View is in your area. It could be a bad reception due to hills or you're not in direct line of the signal transmitted. There are a lot of reasons why, but one thing for sure is that if you got Free View in your area and you don't get the signal, you can always find out from your neighbours who also have Free View. Sometimes it's better to grab a lifeboat before you jump ship.

Hi I have a samsung lcd tv (LE40R7) The picture has started to break up (Pixelate) generaly at night after seven. It is connected to a virgin V+ box only No terestrial. Could it be something that a...

It could be some issue in the box itself; e.g. signal/video processing circuit (some cable/satellite/set-top boxes develop weird faults in this area when they get hot which affect channel reception/signal). Resulting in 'digital interference' affecting pictures on-screen.
~
You could also try another device on your TV (e.g. a DVD player if you have one handy) and see if any issues occur on-screen. If the set does not exhibit the same behaviour with a DVD player, chances are your cable/satellite/set-top box is the likely suspect. (the above suggestion is simply to determine whether the problem exists in the TV, the box, or both)
~
If it is proven that the box is indeed the culprit, you may have to consider replacing it with a new one as these are cheaply designed and generally non-serviceable.

I just purchased an amplified indoor HDTV Antenna to better receive HD tv. Is the LCD display supposed to be on all the time??? How can I get better reception from a broken picture even rotating the...

I don't know in what area you live & therefore how strong your reception area will be, but as a general rule an indoor antenna is never the best type of aerial to have to receive digital signals, you will always find that you pick up some good strong channels but more often the rest of the channels will be poor or non-existant & will constantly break-up/freeze etc. The best advice would be to try & fit an outdoor antenna if possible.
