Xbox dvd regions

I purchased a dvd reomote on ebay. it arrived from HK. i plugged in the remote receiver into the xbox without reading the instructions. Apparently when you plug it in to the xbox it permenantly codes the xbox. Unfortunately i had it set to the wrong dvd region, and now it will only play dvd's from that region.I did see a blog that said there may be a fix to permently set it to another region. Any ideas

My original xbox console can't recognize games, but my songs still can read..

Dirty disc, other region disc, not original game (copy) or just a bad dvd drive. The Thompson dvd drive on many of the original xboxes went bad pretty quickly. You can order a replacement dvd drive on ebay. The samsung replacement dvd drives are the best in my opinion.

My game it can't play becoz of region code, how can i fix it in the xbox 360

Region Code: 0xFFFFFFFF Region Free have a friend who had the same problem this is what he did to fix it.some nice fellows over at X-Box Headquarters forums have figured out a way to change the values on the DVD region code on hypervisor exploitable X-Box 360s. Since the region code is directly tied in with the CPU key, for now this will only work on X-Box units with kernel 4532 and 4548. You'll also have to read/flash the flash chip in order for it to work. this might not be the best thing to do if you don't want to void the warranty though. i hope this helps you and have a nice day

Hi my xbox 360 slim plays most dvd's but some it not play and it says wrong regan code what do i do

There isn't anything you cab really do without opening the xbox up.
ll DVD's have what is called a region code. this is a code that is specific to 5 regions. in North America, we are region 1, and Japan, they would be region 5. If the Xbox is purchased in North America, the DVD drive in the Xbox, is imprinted with region code 1. This mean it will only play region code 1 movies, and games.

The only thing you can do is to either mod your xbox, or replace the DVD drive with a drive from a different region, but this will make it so you can play dvds from your region.

Wont load game wrong reagion

Where did you purchase the game from and what country do you live in? The DVD drive built into the console is setup to read discs only from your region. Visit to see which region you live in and to compare this to where you got the game from. This will explain the problem hopefully

My xbox wont read any discs

Maybe1)The Xbox 360 does not recognize a disc in the DVD drive

2)Disc is "unreadable" to the Xbox 360

3)DVD drive tray will not respond or move

Every issue has its own unique cause. A disc with scratches could be an issue. You should have no problems getting this issue fixed. See if another disc does the same thing.
It most likely says "Unable to read disc" because it probably can't read the disc! If I were you, I would try cleaning off the disc you are using, then putting it back into theXbox 360 and try again. It may also be scratched repetitively, which cannot be fixed and you may need to buy a new copy of the disc. The disc is the incorrect region - DVDs come in formats called "regions." These regions match the region specified in the software of the DVD player. Some games also have these regions. If the region of the DVD and that of the player do not match, the disc will not play.

When i put an Xbox 360 game in it tries to play it as a DVD movie. please help!!!

When you try to play a DVD movie or an Xbox 360 game disc on your Xbox 360 console, you may receive an error message. This article presents step-by-step guidance to help you determine whether your disc is playable.
SYMPTOMS When you try to play a disc, you may receive the following error message: Can’t read this DVD.
CAUSE The DVD or game disc may be dirty or damaged. Because the console cannot read the disc well, it may even mistake a game disc for a DVD and report this error. If this problem occurs with multiple discs, even clean and undamaged discs, there may be a problem with your Xbox 360 console.
Note If you receive a different error message, such as one of the following messages, the problem is a different problem:
Error message 1 Can't play DVD. Wrong region code. Error message 2 Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD. If you receive one of these error messages, see the corresponding Knowledge Base article: 907620 While attempting to play a standard DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can't play DVD. Wrong region code" 908645 While attempting to play a DVD movie using your Xbox 360 console, you receive the error message: "Can’t play DVD. Family settings restrict playback of this DVD"

THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.

Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. If the disc is damaged, do one of the following: • Because DVD discs are not game discs and the disc was damaged because of misuse of some type, such as not storing the disc in its case, the only thing that you can do is buy a new one. • If you feel that the disc was damaged by the Xbox 360 console in some way, please contact Xbox Customer Support. To do this, please visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Xbox will not read any game or dvd

It sounds like your DVD drive has failed, this is fairly common. There is a good chance it is still under warranty from microsoft. Give them a call at:

If it is not under warranty you can replace the dvd drive itself, google xbox 360 replacement parts. It's not too difficult if you are technically inclined.

Xbox remote broken

Try getting a universal remote and look for the "Code Search" instructions inside of the manual.  It will basically make you cycle through all of the possible codes until you get the right one.  Be patient and it will pay off.  Don't think you can use a controller to play DVD's but I may be wrong. Let me know how it goes.
