Lexmark X4850 wireless set-up

Hi, I just purchased a Lexmark X4850 printer which has wireless capability and I am having trouble getting the computer to print. I have a AT&T wireless modem/router that can also have up to 4 computers plugged in directly to the modem/router. I set up the printer and plugged it into my desktop using a usb cord. It said it was fine & printed a test sheet ok. I then ran the installation disc to set the printer up for wireless operation so that my daughter could also use the printer using the wireless feature. But now I can't get the printer to print anything from my desktop? I called Lexmark tech support and was told I can't have it both ways. Either I use the printer only with my printer(using the usb cable), or remove the usb cable & get a wireless pci card for my desktop. I wanted to be able to use the printer for my desktop, as well as my daugter's laptop, which has wireless capability. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

    I just purchased the Lexmark X4850 too and I can get it to print wirelessly, but not with the USB cord. When I do print wirelessly it causes my wireless router (D-link wireless router DSL G604T) to crash, all internet and email connections go down. Then I have to turn off the printer at the power point and re-boot my Router. Rather annoying to say the least. I have tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. Is anyone able to help with this? I would be happy to just print with the USB cord if I could!

    Wireless receiver detailed above has no lcd light anymore. Frequencies can be set as well as other settings but connection with microphone, not happening. Tried so far using the other receiver which has lcd light and its working fine. Any idea what is wrong. It is ony 4 yrs old

I have a Lexmark X4850, every time I print a job it prints a blank page first then the document. I have tried to tell it to print 1-1 or 1-3 but it continues to print that blank page first. any suggestions.

I Have had issues many different ones similar to lots explained , lexmarks customer service on there website has been a life savor on many occasions, sometimes its as simple as resting the router,. other times documents pending get locked in and its a matter of clearing out the print jobs and re sending them. in some cases its a matter of my windows,. fire wall , or the 64 bit quad core possessor im using, or an issue with my cloud print service that lets me print via my android,. in any case a simple link from there website under support and help selecting the make of your printer,. and on the left side of the window is a spot for live chat help,. i work 3rd shift,. and there hasn't been a time in the day that i have been unable to get assistance, in one case too they sent me a whole new insulation disk, with all the latest updates on software including fax setup and excreta, and was able to send me the proper insulation via remote access, one time i even had an issue with a recently perched printer cartage, i had just bought at staples, rather then having me return it, they shipped me two free inks!!! that seemed to have lasted even longer then what i was buying in store

prints normal
when copying or scanning it adds vertical lines 15mm apart
as well as the object
what goes any one help

I can't even get my printer to print from my desktop when plugged via usb, sometimes! i am able to plug my usb flash drive into the printer to print a picture but it seems not to recgonise a picture i have on there

My Lexmark 4850 will not work. I tried to set it up as a wireless
unit and it says the unit is only USB compliant. (NOT TRUE)

My X4850 prints fine but each time I print a document I get a pop up box on the computer screen asking if I want to participate in the connect program, even though I check the no box it continues to come back every time I print. Please tell how to get rid of this annoying box forever.

Had a similar problem with my router, which was a 2WIRE router (furnished by AT&T - I have Uverse). Fixed it by going to the router's GUI (mine is 192.168.1.254), click on "View the home network". On the right side of the resulting screen, there is a section titled "wireless settings". Under that, click on "edit settings". Enter the login information (the default password is on a tag on the router). The next screen is "Configure the Wireless Network". Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Rescan". When I did this, my X4850 miraculously connected and started working.

Ok, the best way and easiest is to plug your printer whit the usb cable. Seeing that u have a home network, at ur place share ur printer over the network, and your daughter can use wireless to connect to the network and print over your desktop pc.

Printing: since Lexmark say you can either connect wirelessly or wired and not both, you must either connect your daughter's machine to the hub by wire or yourself to the printer wirelessly.

Fax: this will need a phone line.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.


You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/lY7NTO. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the install process, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Wireless printer communication unavailable via USB


Hi. Hope you got it working fine now on your Windows 7. If not, go to Start Menu > Devices and Printers > right click on the Lexmark print object > Troubleshoot. Make sure the printer is on and is still connected to the computer via the usb cable.

Have you talked with Lexmark Technical Support? I suspect you may have to escalate this beyond level one. Vista on Mac is likely to have issues that differ from other Vista environments.

Lexmark X4850 wireless how to make it find the wireless network. I've had this printer working with my Vista laptop till recently; then I moved to another area, configured my new home network and Internet...


If the printer itself is wireless, it does not need to recognize your wireless computer network. Call Lexmark to walk you through proper installation. Lexmark's manuals are not adequate regarding setup, in my opinion.
