Well, later today, i tried it again, to see maybe if it was the battiers. Now the camera does turn on, and the lens comes out half way, and then shuts off.

When I turn on the camera, the lens comes out then immediately goes back in and shuts off. I have tried several sets of new batteries, but it continues to do the same thing. I can't recall it being dropped. It worked fine just a few days before.

The mechanism is wrecked. Kodak will quote a repair price you won't like it much or you could simply buy another camera

  • Anonymous Oct 06, 2007

What has happened now is 'I think'
The Zoom mechanism is wrecked. switching on again cause a 'strain' or overload and something else burned out.

The reapair bill you will like even less - cut your losses and buy the next camera

My KOdak Easyshare LS743 camera error #45

This is a lens error. KODAK suggests a repair for this fault.

However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

My camera lens is stuck in the closed position. When I turn the camera on, the motor runs, but nothing happens. I accidentally picked the z740 camera when posting the proplem originally, but the z700 is...

If you've dropped the camera you may have damaged the lens housing - which will require professional repair, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

The cameras lens dont come come out and shuts off immediatly

Probably the lens is not the right circumstance and needed repair from you. Check your lens, if you are able to disassemble and assemble back your digital camera. If you can't, take it to the service center.

Casio EX-Z700 was dropped in sand. When camera is turned on lens makes a grating sound and the moniter screen is cloudy. It originally said lens error, but no longer says anything.

Hello, I'm Mark Faith from the states. I purchased the CASIO EX-Z700 series.
However, I accidentally dropped the camera when the camera was on and the lens was extended.
It makes a grating sound, and the monitor screen said "Lens error".

Now, the camera is turned off with its lens extended.
When I see the lens from the top, the lens position is more concentrated to the right, and the gaps between each lens is bigger on the left hand side of the lens.

I sincerely hope this would help you to analyze the lens situation.
I'll be patiently waiting for a list of solutions.
Thanks.

Kodak Z700

Hi,

Tentative solution:
I had the identical problem. I went as far as disassembling the camera ... not recommended.

Instead of fussing with the lens cover, I pressed on the lens assembly (gently), the lens retracted and the lens cover closed.

My camera works now. It will be my last Kodak.

Good Luck,
Mike
