When I go to read new messages it freezes. I cannot erase any of my messages and I have to unplug my receiver to have it working again. I have over 300 messages. How can I clear them out?

Re: Read New Messages

It's possible that it's not actually froze, but is just taking a REALLLLLY long time to load all those messages (300?!?!? WHOAH!!!). Try accessing it before you go to bed and let it hang overnight. In the morning it will either let you access them or still be froze, in which case there's a bigger issue at hand.

Why does my dish network say it has been diconnected and do i fix it

There are many reasons it would say this, all of them based on how DISH recognized the combination of your SMART card and receiver number. DISH authorizes the correct combination of your SMART card and receiver so that you cannot just have one or the other and have it work. They may have intentionally disabled your account for non-payment or some other customer service related issue. Your SMART card may be damaged (if removed the screen would read "Please Insert Your Smart Card"). You should contact customer service

If the message on the screen reads, "A cable has been disconnected" it usually means that in the process of trying to find a signal, it could not. The cable between the receiver and the antenna (aka the dish) may have been damaged or cut. The antenna may have been damaged or installed incorrectly. This message is usually only shown when installing a new receiver. If you had an issue and they sent you a replacement receiver, this is more than likely the problem. Make sure that the cable coming from the antenna (usually from the wall or the floor) is plugged into the receivers satellite in, or the triplexer (a silver rectangle with three cables coming out to the receiver) 's in. If the cable is in the right spot (the triplexer's cables that go to the receiver are color coded and marked) and you still have the issue after unplugging and then plugging back in the receiver, the problem was not the initial receiver, and was instead either the continuity of the line to the antenna or the antenna's installation. (Poor or non-existent antenna reception means it was installed wrong or damaged). You would need a technician to solve these problems without more experience yourself.

If unplugging to reset and, you should also try pressing and holding power button until it resets, doesn't help you your receiver is probably bad however, check and make sure all your connections are good and have a quick look at dish and check to make sure it hasn't moved somehow, and make sure it's not blocked. These units have a hard drive in them that work harder than a computers because of programming and updates, etc. I'm pretty sure that the ones that are sent back get a new drive and are re-formatted so, you may get a reconditioned one in return. The best thing to do is call them and, they will go through a diagnostics proceedure with you then, send you a repalcement. You then put the old one in the box and return it. I went through a few myself but, have had good luck recently. Have you tried pressing menu, then scroll to and click on system setup, then, installation, then point dish. You should get a tone and a green line in the slide scale at the bottom of screen. Scroll up to "check switch" and click on that and see what results you get. If you are showing no signal. It could possibly be the dish alaignment.

My box is receiving the feed intermittantly. is there a common cold solder joint problem?

Hello this is Nick Franta with DISH.

During the intermittent signal loss/freezing are any error messages popping up on your screen? From the information provided the best solution would be to unplug the receiver from the outlet for 10 seconds. Also try to press the up and down buttons on the receiver itself when its freezing to see if it allows you to change the channel. If this doesn't resolve the issue we would need to send you a replacement receiver. Let us know if you need any further help!

My 622 DVR dual (DISH ) receiver has lost 3 local channels in a row ( SAT 61.5) . Connecticut 7385,7386,7387 - (ch 20,24,26.) Other tv's/ HD box and old 310 box converters work fine. I have unplugged,...

Hello, my name is Daniel Busa with Dish Network customer service. Whats probably causing the issue would be that either you're not getting high enough signal strength on the 61.5 satellite. Otherwise there could be an issue with the box if you swap it with another reciever in the home, and the issue follws it you'll need a new box.

Welcome. powering up" screen freezes

well it sounds like the tivo is trying to re aquire the information needed or it was damaged during the power outage. If you can get into the menu settings make sure that you are getting a satellite signal on both tuners or both cables coming from the satellite. If you have the same tivo thats in the picture then you can go to directv central "the blue button at the top of the remote" then once you get there go to "read new messages and setup, then settings then satellite signal.once you go to the signal testing screen make sure you have a signal on both of the signal meter bars.If you dont one of the cables may have been damged.another way to test to see if the cables are ok is to take another receiver from another room and see if if will work on BOTH the cables that plugged into the tivo.If you discover that one or both cables are not working you can go to a website called and there is a section that will explain how to fix the cable/If you are unable to get to the setup screen then something internal may be wrong with the tivo. You will have to call Directv and have the tivo replaced with the new DVR,not tivo anymore.Or you can replace it yourself.Once again the website i mentioned will help ALOT.GOOD LUCK rate me fixya if this helps.OH yeah not dialing out will not cause any problems.Mine is the same way and it will just prompt you to make a phone call.

Msgs light on Motorola DCT3412

The red message light means that your cable tv provider has left you a message. (Next to the red message light you'll see a faint yellow digit indicating the number of waiting messages.)

To read your messages, do the following:

(1) On your remote, press the "Menu/Settings" button once. This brings up the "Quick Menu."

(2) Press the "Menu/Settings" button again. This brings up the "Prevue Menu."

(3) In the "Prevue Menu," scroll down and select "Messages."

(4) Read the waiting message by pressing the "OK/Select" button on your remote.

(5) To exit the Prevue Menu, press the "Menu/Settings" button.

How to read dvr messages

From the R10 user's manual:

From time to time DIRECTV may send you messages about updates to your service and other important notices. These messages are important, useful, and easy to find. When your DIRECTV® DVR receives a new message, a message icon ( ) appears on the channel banner and in DIRECTV Central.

To read a message:
1. From DIRECTV Central, select Messages & Setup.
2. Select Messages.
3. Select the message you want to read.

Use the CHAN DOWN button to see text that does not fit on the screen. When you are finished reading a message, select Done or Delete Message. Selecting the message icon in the channel banner will take you to your list of messages. The message list will display “No Messages” if there are no messages to read.

You can download the full user manual for your R10 here.
