Maytag dryer runs, does not heat

I have a Maytag model# mde8506ayw -- it runs, but the heat does not come on. I checked to make sure heat is on the dial. Checked voltages at the heater cylinder gauges. Need help to determine if it is the switch or heater elements. thank you

Re: maytag dryer runs, does not heat

Check for continuity in the thermal fuse, also check heating element. make sure you have disconnected the power first. if this is a 220 volt machine make sure you are getting 220 to the machine. if one leg of the voltage has dropped out the motor will run but unit will not heat

Matag dryer not heating

Here is a link to maytag dryer repairs . The most common problem is the thermal fuse. My question is. Does the heating element start to light. If not...... and you have changed the ignitor and thermal fuse. Then check the flame sensor to see if there is continuity threw it. Power to the gas coils and ignitor runs threw the flame sensor. CLICK HERE to see a flame sensor on a GE dryer. They are the same on most units but Maytag will be on the opposite side of burner chamber.

Maytag neptune dryer MD6

All you need to do is check the element for continuity with an ohm meter, if it has continuity the element is good. The dryer also will run on 110 volts of power but it needs 220 volts too run the element, so check and make sure all the conections on your cord are secure and that you have 220 at your wall outlet.
