Microwave resets when started

Just started this morning .. GE Spacemaker Microwave with outside ventilation simply resets similar to power cycle after 2 seconds of running .. have tried several times, configuring clock/date each time .. all other functions seem to work (surface light, etc.) except heating .. moved to different circuit, same results .. any ideas?

both, it definitely power cycles after 2 seconds of cooking, then the display is garbled and comes back with the "GE -- We bring good things to life" and "Please Press Clock" .. its been in service for 1.5 years and i have a service contract on it, so i've called it in .. can you please elaborate on the interference that may cause the "scrambled brains", because that seems to be my symptom .. hopefully i'll be able to sound a little more intelligent when the service tech arrives !! .. thanks ..

Could you explain what you mean by "resets similar to power cycle after 2 seconds of running"? Do the characters on the display get garbled, or is it like someone just unplugged the oven and plugged it back in? GE had a rash of "underperforming" magnetrons on several models. They would sometimes end up with stirrer damage, bad diodes, waveguide damage, and/or interference which "scrambles the brains" of the unit and makes them reset like they had been unplugged. The usual fix is to replace the magnetron, stirrer and high-voltage diode as a kit, and they used to cover this, but may not any more. Sometimes the unit gets run too long in a failing state and the waveguide and chassis of the oven get damaged. In that case, the oven would have to be replaced. To get the details and see if yours is affected, see this bulletin: http://www.microwavedisplay.com/ge_mw_mag_kit_bulletin.pdf Even if your exact unit is not on the list, you may have this problem. You can contact GE Customer Relations at 1-800-386-1215 and tell them your problem and they will put you in touch with a local authorized servicer. Feel free to post back if you need more info. I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my answer.

Condensation in door glass of GE XL1800 microwave

Your ventilation seals may be aging, but they have nothing to do with microwave energy leakage, (And microwave energy is not ionizing radiation anyway, so it does not cause cellular mutation or cancer)

You should check your grease filters (if you are venting to the outside) or your charcoal filter (if recirculating).

If you are venting outside, check your outside vent flap for proper operation, and check your outlet and ductwork for a bird's nest or mouse nest, etc.

If you have other questions, feel free to contact me directly, because FixYa doesn't always notify us when there are follow-ups.

GE spacemaker Power goes off and clock needs resetting

Try going to the breaker box and shutting off the power to the microwave for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn back on and set the clock. This fixed my clock and turntable both. Apparently turning off the power resets the software in the clock.

Microwave was working fine but just stopped this morning. Is there a way that I can replace the high voltage fuse? Is it located in the panel inside the microwave?

You have not mentioned the make and model. Any way you can check the AC fuse on the power board inside the oven. If it is blown off you can replace it by a similar one, around 10amps fuse.

Replacement model for jvm152h

Please clarify which model Spacemaker Micro you have .. and Spacemaker microwave ovens can be configured to vent inside or out simply by repositioning the blower assembly prior to mounting it to the wall bracket so turn it on and determine where the vent air is being distributed ( outside or inside) ..
