Go to Start, Settings, Control panel, printers and faxes is your printer there? is there a checkmark? no, then right click and set as default, put your mouse over it does it say Ready? no, then change cable.

send test page, it should print, if not the USB or Parrallel input of your printer has a problem.

HP LaserJet 4100 for all applications in windows 7. When I go to print a document and click on print. The print screen exits, the print job doesn't processes, and the print queue stays empty. Noth

Ideas? Yes. I had this happen on an LJ 1000 while trying to print my tax return. I tried emptying the queue, removing power from the printer, etc, etc. What finally worked was to empty the queue (again), disconnect power from the printer, shut down the computer, plug in the printer again, restart the computer, queue up a print job again, and hit PRINT.
Hope this works for you

My printer won't print. It will also say "unable

Ok, for the printing part you should check the following:
-connection between printer and computer
-make sure the machine is not in power save mode
-make sure machine is online; click start, printers, choose printer and make sure 'Use Printer Offline' is unchecked
-reinstall the drivers from here: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/as/au/en/model_top/colormfc/mfc5490cn_all.html?reg=as&c=au&lang=en&prod=mfc5490cn_all

Now regarding the scan error, seems to be a mechanical error. Remove and objects that might stop the scanning to proceed. Also, check the manual for Troubleshooting on the link above.

Cant scan

Try to scan with Preview or Image Capture apps (in your Applications folder).

If that does not work, try deleting and re-adding the printer in the print queue:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System

Turn both your printer and computer off then after a few minutes turn back on. This should cancel the print job.

Canon iP1880 printer wont work

Check to make sure the application your printing from isn't defaulting to the manual tray...if so the printer will just sit there until you load the manual tray.

One other thing to check is if he Print job you are printing, is it actually getting to the Printer? Open the Printer so you can see the Queue, and then print something. If the printer is connected properly you will see the document show up in the queue, if the document isn't in the queue, you have another problem.

Let me know and I'll try to follow back up

If the power button blinks. It usually suggest that:- there may be faults with the printer itself. uninstall the driver-software. and setup the printer again. check for paperjams and also ink-levels.
ensure that all leads are connected correctly. and you have the most up to date drivers available for that model.
hope this helps.
