Question about Nikon Coolpix 5600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My Camera won't turn on anymore, even with new batteries

I turned it on once, and it had a flashing red light, froze for a few minutes, and read "Warning. Do not adjust camera" or something like that, and then it shut off and never turned back on. What has happened??

Sony DSC-W110 Hi, my camera was workign fine, plugged it into the computer to take some pictures off and the camera froze. Powered the camera down powered it back up and it froze again. Powered it down...

First, stop plugging it into the computer. Next, remove the card and battery, press all the buttons, leave it alone for 20 minutes, insert the card and then the battery (which I'm assuming is fully charged), turn it on. To download your pics in the future, use a separate card reader.

Battery keeps dying

Most likely the charging circuitry has failed. When you fully charge the new battery what does the battery meter read on the camera? Your two options no matter what the case are repair vs. replacement. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thanks,

3 red flashing lights

When you turn on the console, look at the light on the power supply. The power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the Ring of Light flash red. If the power supply is button is red than you need to replace the battery or check the connections.

The three flashing red lights may indicate that there is a hardware problem with your Xbox 360 console. If you are experiencing this problem, you can submit a console-repair request online.

Hopefully your system is still under warranty.

Flashing lights

I read your posting about changing the batteries. I tried it once and it did not work. Then, I tried it again a few weeks later and the new batteries made it work. I have not tried the rechargable batteries again. I am afraid to remove the batteries I placed in the camera. I hope this helps you. I think there must be a sensor that gets reset at some point and the issue stops. Who knows. Good luck!!!

HP also suggested to reset the camera as follows:
To Reset The Camera:
1. Remove the memory card and turn on the camera.
2. Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.
3. Wait at least ten seconds.
4. Reinsert the batteries and turn on the camera.

I also found information regarding a similar problem with another model at this link:

Focus Assist Light and LCD Flash Simultaneously

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=de&cc=ch&dlc=de&docname=c00240207

The Issue:
When the HP Photosmart digital camera is placed on the dock without batteries, the AF assistance LED and LCD could blink at the same time. Explanation It seems that the super-capacitor on the camera senses the voltage supplied by either the AC adapter or batteries when they are inserted. This is more an annoyance rather than an actual failure on the device. The microcontroller (Dang) senses the voltage and sends a signal to the LCD and AF assistant LED. This is what some times is called a WAD (working as designed). If batteries are present or the super-capacitor is charged, the AC adapter will not trigger this behavior. This can be tried by inserting some batteries on the camera for 3 or 5 minutes, then remove them and place the camera on the dock. No blinking should be present.

Red light flashes and LCD turns off and on

A quick test would be to purchase a set of Duracell Ultra Digital batteries and try them. They won?t last for very long; however, if they make the red light go away then you problem is either the batteries you are using or the charger. More often than not its going to be the batteries so we?ll start there: Check your batteries, you should be using Nickel metal hydride (Ni-ME) that are rated at 1450 (I use 2500) mAh or better. If the batteries are more than one year and you?ve used them a lot then its likely the batteries just aren?t holding a charge anymore. Purchase a new set or borrow a working set from a friend. Charge them in your charger and try in your camera, if the red LED goes away use the batteries till they need charging again. Charge them in your charger and if the red LED stays off then the batteries were the problem. If the red LED returns then try charging your batteries in someone else?s working NiME charger. Put them in your camera and if the red LED goes away then your charger is the fault.
