Re my 1997 jeep cherokee sports. By either remote or key entry all is normal including engine cranking but absolutely no ignition. fuel level is above warning indication. all fuses have been checked as OK. There is no power to the coil. there is no 'pulse' what ever that is (RACQ serviceman advised) Help. It's stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak. Even if the fuel was ok lack of coil power can't be overcome. I have tried 'unlock' on key once inside car. New batteries in keys, good battery in car which has been removed, recharged and put back in place. SOS.SOS

Sometimes my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo will not start up. You have to hold the gas pedal to the floor and turn the key in the ignition before it will start. What is wrong with my Jeep?

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with fuel pump problems, what I have done so far is, I have changed out the fuel pump, the new pump I put in will continue to run and want stop, the pump sounds like it...

Let me be clear here. Crank means turn. Ignite means start running. So it will crank but not ignite and ur sure u have 35psi of fuel pressure. Next is to have someone gently wiggle the wires at the engine control unit while u turn the key

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Ignition Lights Come on but wont crank

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee cranks but won't start

Same thing happened to me at about 140k. It was the fuel pump. Best way to test if your pump is failing and loosing pressure is to see if the car will start immediately after it has been running, or turn the key to the alt position for a few minutes before starting. If your engine fires faster after it has been running or the key has been in the alt position you will probably need a new fuel pump. Great news is with a very deep socket to get the tank straps off its a 30 minute job to replace the pump/filter assembly.
