restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue then select restart if the problem still persists f8 back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time that did not have this error message or be able to work your way through it also
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS
scroll to PC health status press Enter you should see some of the temperature settings available you could disable the shutdown at the current the Temperature

From what i have read, this is malware, a trojan.
You need to get rid of it.
Run a program like Malwarebytes in safe mode (F8 on boot, choose safe mode with networking) also run with system restore OFF, lots of malware and viruses hide there.

if you can view your desktop and use the menus, go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore, if you had enabled this option earlier then you can restore the system to an earlier known date when you system worked.
else you can try installing winXP again, try the option to "Update" when the install option comes on.
else start PC, before the WinXp screen comes on press F8 key, use the Safe Mode to start PC, if you can see everything then shut down and restart in normal mode.

go to the Bios setup and set the first booting device as CD drive and it will check the CD first

hit f8 at startup, choose enable VGA mode. After boot, download the new driver for the ati video card and install it. You can go to the hp website and download the video driver there.

Trying booting into safe mode by pressing F8 while the computer is booting up.
Choose safe mode with the arrow keys and see if it boots that way.

You can download the hal.dll file from this site www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal most of the windows missing dll files you can find here.

Also download windows nt or xp boot image from the net and create floppies or cd rom from that to boot up.

AFTER GETTING PROMPT GO TO
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
COPY THE HALL.DLL

yes, boot up into safe mode and then wait.. shut it down and reboot up regularly and see if that helps.. did you recently install any new software or devices? it may be spyware so if it is and you can get it to boot up long enough, download spybot and run it to remove any spyware you may have.. it's a free download so is adaware.. let me know if this helps.. d

Provide more description regarding your issue. Is there any error message when you try to boot without safe mode? Does the computer just boot to safe mode without asking you anything? Andy
