Question about Epson Perfection 1240U Flatbed Scanner
In the program you are working from, begin the scanning process. If working in full auto mode, as the scan begins you will see a message that reads TO CANCEL SCANNING IN FULL AUTO MODE AND SWITCH TO MANUAL MODE, CLICK CANCEL. At this point, click CANCEL, then MANUAL MODE.
You will now see all Epson Twain settings displayed. If the scanner has not previewed automatically, click the full page preview button (icon of a paper with one corner folded down).
try the PREVIEW button (page with corner folded down) again.
In this mode, you will have to manually marquee or crop the slides you wish to scan. Use the left mouse button to lasso one slide inside a box made of dotted lines, then click scan. Only the selected area will scan. Repeat this process (manually crop then scan) for as many slides or filmstrips are on the bed.
Click CLOSE once scanning is complete. The images will now transfer to the application in use.

The friends I send the scanner pictue to tell me that it comes out real small and they don't know how to make it bigger. so maybe I am doing something wrong scanning thses picturres. I do not have a manual.
scanner has recently begun cutting off the last 1 1/2 inches or so of the document, unfortunately that is when the signature I need is. Have tried checking the setting but nothing seems to help. I scan about 250 pages a day and about 30 percent are having this problem and it is increasing every day.
Hey, I scanned over 800 images using this scanner (medium format film -- 120) with no problem, but all the sudden I can't scan anything but one image at a time without it getting cut off! I bought the scanner used and don't have the glass plate for it; could you explain what might have happened to cause the problem? Thanks. -Jess
Just got new Planon RC800 Professional...will only scan half page and quits.
I don't believe the problem is users not being able to interpret the "put your document here" marks on the scanner. The problem I am having, and it seems others are having, is that the document is placed correctly on the glass. However, the scanned image shows portions of a normal sized (e.g. 8.5x11" or smaller) document cut off and replaced in a different place. In my case, the document is visually cut into pieces and rearranged, divided into anywhere from two to four sections - heads are where feet should be, signatures are at the top of the page with the letter below it.... Perhaps the right inch of a full page document is "cut" vertically and appears as the left side of the document. The scanned page looks like one of those childrens' puzzles where the little squares are moved around to create a picture. My 4200F was purshced new and is about two years old; problem just started a couple months ago. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling software. Downloaded only drivers available at website. No help. Any other ideas?
