IBM THINKPAD R30 DISPLAY PROBLEM

Hi.
I've worked on several of these thinkpads which had this problem. There are a couple of things it could be depending on what the display actually looks like. If it "whites out" , or has lines.
First, make sure the ribbon cable is connected properly. If the lcd lights up at all, the inverter is fine.
Next, while booting the machine, press in on the memory; this might work better if you only have one memory stick in the machine. Just putr pressure on the memory towards the motherboard. I know it sounds weird, but it's a possible problem.
If that doesn't do it, the lcd may be shot.
