No sound on dvd recording

I am recording from a camcorder to a dvd recorder/video cassette. I have a picture but no sound. Have set the dvd recorder to proper audio record mode, but still have no sound. I am not using a dv cable as recommended, but am using an s-video cable. Is that my problem? Thank you

I have an HP Media Center PC w/ digital audio output feeding into my video card. The audio and video are then fed out of the video card via HDMI. I get audio when I play CDs, but I get no audio when I play DVDs even though I get great video. I also get sound from everything else including downloaded video and video games. I've tried everything and am at a complete loss.

S-video cable does not carry sound, you need to use audio cables as well (there should be an audio port near the S-video port on your camcorder)

Hi,
I think your camera's head is not good, first you try to clean it with cleaning cassette, if there is clogged dirt on it you have to clean several times, then check with a good cassette.

I no longer have the owners manual and cd that came with the camcorder when purchased. I want to transfer the 8mm cassettes to dvd and dont know how to set this up

first of all you need a video-input port (yellow RCA) and of course line in for sound, most aditional TV-cards have it, then you can use any proper software to stream and record on pc hdd. after that copy to dvd with any cd burn software.

or

if you have a dvd recorder plug in cams cables and press record...

When recording it shows that it is recording but we can't see anything. If we play back what we think we might have recorded we can only hear the sound but not see anything.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

IMPORTANT: If additional model-specific instructions are needed to perform any of the steps below, refer to the operating instructions of the camcorder. The instruction manual is available in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony eSupport Web site.
  1. Ensure a fully-charged battery is inserted or connect the AC power adapter.
  2. Turn the camera on to the VTR or PLAYBACK mode.
  3. Insert a cassette tape with recorded video into the camcorder.
  4. Ensure the cassette tape is rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
  5. Begin playing the cassette tape.
  6. If your camcorder has an LCD screen, try adjusting the brightness or contrast.
  7. If there is still no picture on the LCD or viewfinder, reset the camcorder to factory specifications

Mode for playback of older 8mm tapes using Sony DCR-TRV730 ?

In 1990s Sony camcorder records movie in analog format so playing in digital camcorder like DCR-TRV730 doesn't mean it will be converted in digital format and you can not import file in PC for editing purpose. You will get analog signal while playing back old cassettes.

Regarding SP, LP speed, its decided at time of recording. Camera sens SP or LP automatically in playback and set itself accordingly.

If you want to convert old cassettes into digital format, connect our camcorder to DVD recorder and burn DVD which is digital format, copy DVD files in to PC and do desired editing.

I want to transfer material from video cassette to dvd. I have a Sony cassette recorder slv- se610g and a sony dvd recorder rdr-gx3. Can you please tell me how?

Though Connection details are available in DVD recorder User Manual, yet here is procedure. Find Video Audio Out terminal on Cassette Recorder SLV-SE610G and hook Yellow-Red-White cable in matching color pins and other end of cable will hook in Video Audio Input terminals at DVD Recorder RDR-GX3 and please note, same color pins will be hooked. Insert desired VHS cassette in VCR and push Playback. select input source at DVD Recorder and confirm playback picture and sound of vcr at TV. Now system is ready to record VHS movie on DVD.
If you need further info, please post back here.

I am using an sd card when i hit the record button it says cannot record video on the model number DZ-GX5020

Sorry, but as far as I know, Hitachi camcorders cannot record video directly onto an SD card. You have to set the camcorder to DVD. It can only record video and pictures on a DVD, and only pictures on an SD card.
