Mitel 8528/8568 phone won't turn on when plugged into wall jack

You bought the wrong phone Lindsay. This is a system phone and only talks to the System Control Network Box. It won't work as a standalone phone. The system box is the equivalent of a company switchboard operator.

First remove the headset cord from the headset jack. That is only used for corded headsets. Plug the short cord into the jack where the curly cord had been plugged into. The curly cord is now going to be plugged into the base of the charger where the picture is of a handset -- the curly cord goes there. There is a A/C adapter that is plugged in to base that is now plugged into the wall.

No. The Mitel Superset 4015 is a proprietary digital phone that will only work on Mitel telephone systems. It will not work on some of the older analog Mitel systems.

the Superset 4025 is a digital set that is intended to work with a Mitel telephone system. The port must be programmed and connected to a jack to allow the phone to work. The phone is not intended to be used as a home telephone.

You need to have a Headset button added and press it... or dial the headset on code. Contact your system admin or vendor to have the button added or to get the codes. This is something you can't do from the phone.

This phone is a digital phone and requires connection to a digital system commonly called a "key system". If you have removed it from where it was connected and tried to use it at home or somewhere else it will not work. Most home or normal phone jacks are connected to your local provider directly and is what is called an analog system. The 2 are NOT compatable without an interface device. If it is connected to a key system then thier is a problem with the port on the Mitel keysystem that goes to the jack you are plugging the phone into and you will need a technician to fix/rewire this onsite. You can find allot of headsets that will work by googling the set type and the word headset. But I think what you are looking for is found i the programming of your phone system. In the class of service you can have the option for silent monitoring turned on and in feature access code add a code for Monitoring. Yes you are correct this is something for your Mitel vendor complete but i'm sure they would be happy to help.

There are a number of Headset that will plug directy into the back of your 5212 phone. (I would suggest Googling for results) As for Monitoring an agent the Mitel ICP has the capability to allow a supervisor to dial a code and mointor the agent while on a call. Contact you Mitel Vendor and I'm sure they would be happy to make the program chage for you. (This is a class of service and Feature acces code change)

That Jack is for a Direct Station Selection/ Busy Lamp Field ( DSS/BLF ) connection not to daisy chain phones together. It is an RJ11 connection but uses a six conductor cord instead of a four conductor. Hope this answeres your question.

1) The phone cannot communicate with the switch. 2) Make sure your connections are good at both the jack that you plug the phone into and the block or connection coming from the Mitel switch. What Mitel Switch do you have?
