The problem is most likely the relays or their driver transistors in your band pass filter for 20M. This is a common problem and can affect any band.

If you are technically competent, you can change them yourself. These newer radios use very tiny components and unless you are used to working with them, you will just cause more problems than you can fix! Give Kenwood's service department a call and see what the band pass filter board would cost to replace. It might be more cost effective to just replace the board.

unfortunately it seems the George is no longer available. However, the power cord is a USB cord then you should be able to replace it by picking up a multiple USB cord kit (the one that has both the standard and mini sized cords).

Seems you might have a gate inserted on that mics channel. Or if you are going to a computer, the program you are using might have an insert activated with a gate. Which means when signal gets to a certain threshold, the gate opens and the mic signal passes thru, below the threshold...the gate stays closed and the mic signal will not pass thru. Hope this is helpful.

Well, when you set it that low it allows the water to pass very quickly and if the water passes very quickly there may not be sufficient time to absorb the coffee; hence weak coffee. The setting should be reset to the middle, at 10, and tried again. Then, if you want to change it move it only one or two numbers for enough cups to see if there is any change before you move it a large number. Going higher or lower makes it pass more or less quickly with results accordingly.
You may also have the dose set too low and you may want to set it higher increasing the amount of coffee in each dose.
Then again, since it was used, you don't know if the machine was taken apart by someone who reinstalled the machine with the dials you are using out of whack with where they should be set.

Sounds like the lid shorts the power or shuts it off, see if you can spot any faulty wiring. If you can't, you might try getting it to an electrician who should be able to solve it - but for $40 you could just as well get a new one.
