Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook

1 Answer

Rebooting problem I get the same message that has been posted in previous messages that says: WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent... And I read your solution, but my laptop keeps rebooting and I cannot down load anything like the SMART that was suggested. Any other ideas?

You need to press either F2 or Del on boot up and enter the bios, go into the advanced menu and there will be a listing similair to HDD s.m.a.r.t enabled, turn this off and then save settings and reboot, this should stop the reboots and boot as normal, but back up any docs etc as you will need to replace the drive.

98 Oldsmobile Aurora There's a on my Dash it says information center and has the oil fuel speed all that it says low oil is there any way anybody knows how to reset that

Check your engine oil using the oil dipstick located on the engine - you need to add oil to the fill line as shown on the dipstick. You should have the oil replaced regularly (every 3-6 months) and keep your eye on the level if the engine is leaking oil underneath or burning a lot of it.

Please have a check with your service provider. If still no help, then try resetting the device.1.Power off the phone.2.Press and hold "Vol+", "Menu", and "Power" key until the phone goes to recovery mode.3.Use "Vol+" and "Vol-" to move the cursor up and down.4.Move cursor to "wipe data/factory reset", press "Back" key to select it.5.Now move cursor down to "Yes - delete all user data" and press "Back" to select it.6.The data will be erased.7.The cursor will be on "reboot system now" at the end, so just press "Back" key to reboot the phone normally.
WARNING: All user data will be completely cleared; the phone will be in a factory reset status.

When i turn on my laptop a warning notice comes on screen immediately saying smart failure predicted on hard disc 0:ST9160310AS-(PM). Warning immediately back up your data and replace your hard disc drive....

It means exactly what the message says.
The hard drive is going to fail in the near future. I recommend you back up your data before the hard drive fails completely.
When the hard drive fails, replace the hard drive, and use your Compaq recovery disk to install Windows and the device drivers plus your programs to get the laptop working again.

Received error message can't initialize port

I have fixed this temporarily by going into Device Manager, finding Com Port 1, right clicking on it to disable it (you get a warning message), then immediately re-enabling it (right clicking on it and selecting 'enable'). This fixes the problem until the next reboot. Still looking for a permanent fix.

There is a message failure predicted on hard disk 4 warning: immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. a failure may be imminent press f1 to conntinue

Your hard drive is about to fail. You need to replace the hard drive and, if you have any data on your current one, you need to back it up immediately. Every minute your computer is turned on means that the hard drive could crash at any time.

I got this error message when I startup my Compag Presario v2000 laptop------------------ SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: TOSHIBA MK6025GAS-(PM) WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace...

If you have any data you value on it I wouldn't mess around, but would back it up to to external media to begin with.
Then run chkdsk (link here) and here, to see if you can recover the bad sectors and then defrag it.
You could contact Toshiba support to see what criteria trigger that warning, see one link here, but I would definitely be prepared for it to fail suddenly, as these things frequently give little warning and then are gone...Once that happpens it can be expensive and time consuming to recover your data, if in fact you are able to.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

ACER SMART failure

SMART means self monitoring and reporting tool, this is the option which performs certain test for the status of hard disk health, if its coming it means condition of your hard disk is not good, its better if you immediately back up your data and replace it, by the way you can also disable this warning through the bios, just disable the smart feature in hard disk

Error message at startup !!

SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology.

If you want lots of details on what it is, and does, take a look at this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-Monitoring,_Analysis,_and_Reporting_Technology

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to fix this since it's a hardware problem on the hard drive. The drive may last for years or it may die tomorrow. At a minimum I would back up everything you care about on a regular basis.

If you found this information helpful I would appreciate it if you would rate this solution. I hate to beg, but over half of the solutions I've posted have no feedback. I'm not paid for this I'm just trying to help.

When should I replace my backup battery?

The back up battery should be replaced immediately upon seeing the message "Backup Battery Very Low - Your back up battery is very low or missing. Data loss may result from failure to replace the battery very soon. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for directions on replacing or charging the backup battery." Warning: It is important to note that the back up battery in the MobilePro 900 is not rechargeable, thus, to prevent data loss, it is important to change the back up battery immediately when this message is displayed.
