-Check the relay. It might stuck on.
-Basic check:
-Leave the hoop open and locate the relay. Then lock the car
and now remove (Unplug) the relay. If the light is gone
then the relay is bad. (It stuck on On Position)

Good luck

SOURCE: 2001 VW Jetta 1.8L - Front RH Door Lock won't lock

I have a similar issue on a 2001 Jetta sedan. jandkat seems to be talking about the old system that VW used (pre-1998). To my knowledge there is no vacuum-based locks in the 2001 models. I've had the door completely apart and there are defiantly not any vacuum hoses. The only 100% for sure fix I have found is to replace the door latch mechanism. There are some other options but I'm not sure they would completely fix the issues you are having. Now for the bad news: you can only get this door latch mechanism from VW dealers. I have yet to find a place online or elsewhere that carries them. They are around $185 for the latching mechanism and if you don't want to install it, be prepared to pay another $200 or so in labor. If you do want to do it yourself, here is a great site that has step-by-step how to take a VW door apart: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107

Hope this helps

fuses are usually in the glove box or under the drivers dash or under the drivers side hood either physically inspect every fuse by pulling them one by one or the aid of a test light and a good ground to the test light

VW T5 ABS/Brake warning light problem

Volkswagen Transporter T5? 2003 to 2015 made, which one>?
no year car told ,wow, and no country, why skip that? want more lies/?
but did not scan the PCM and ABS first.
Hanyes manuals are rags, a cheap door stop, a toxic mix of 10 years of cars.
super bad to use, and be serious. get real OEM service manual
no country told, VW sold all over earth and they are not he the same.
seems like cluster failure or ABS communications.

smog tests fail, for key lamps seen dead.

I say find a real shop in secret country and scan the PCM and BCM both
for errors, it will have some I BET.
and is key to the cause. for sure.

2003 quote.

The Volkswagen Transporter (T5)[1][2] is a variant of the Volkswagen T platform. In North America it is sold in Mexico but neither in the United States nor Canada. As with other light trucks, the T5 range would face a 25% tariff, known as the chicken tax, if was imported to the US.

no year is a huge huge , fail here.
for scan tools year and country means everything, (comms)
buy a real OEM service manual; from VW or used off ebay

google shows this.

My headlights keep blowing on my 2010 Pontiac G6. We've replaced them ATLEAST every 4 months or so. Well again today, we changed the passenger headlight and now I have NO: 1. Running back lights 2. No...

Check the charging system voltage, if it's over 14.8 volts it's too high and will shorten the life of bulbs, battery, blower motor, cooling fan motors and if it gets over 16 volts the vehicle control modules will also get cooked. The voltage regulator is built into the alternator but can be replaced separately. I hope this helps. Take care.

How to remove trim panels in rear of vw caravelle t5

with a lot of difficulty and utmost care

as the trims age they crack at the holding clips easily
finding good replacements is getting harder

trims are held in with plastic trim clips
some clips button types

others under the edges along the underside of the trims out of sight

you know about them when the trim has resistance as you try to remove the trims

98 VW Golf GL (Manual) Dash lights out!

As with everything else electrical check your fuses first. If you don't have a map of your fuse box just pull them out one at a time and check them.. blown ones will be easy to spot. If all the fuses are good, check the dimmer knob for your interior lights (roll it back and forth a few times) If the lights come on at one certain spot but go out again, it's the dimmer gone bad. If they don't come on at all pull the switch out and check for power with a test light. If power bad dimmer... if still no power bad headlight switch.... Hope this helps...;-)
