Same problem as the others listed in this string. Dispenser panel lights flashing and the ice cube door opening and closing. Called Maytag and finally talked (after 2 tries) talked with a lady named Betty who handled the problem correctly. Set me up with a service technician and FEDEX'd the replacement HV Circuit Board to my house. All of this is at no charge. They are scheduled to replace the board on July 3rd.

I own Maytag ICE20 model# MFI2568AE, experiencing same problem many people are having - ice door flapping back and forth and LED panel blinking non-stop. The problem is 2 poor quality capacitors installed in the High-Voltage (HV) board. Call Maytag they will send a replacement board and give a ph# for a repair co. to install new HV board.
Mine went out 6-14-08 my part arrived today (6-19-08) via FED-EX and repairman will be here 6-25-08 to install new HV board - installing it yourself voids any warranty. It's an inconvenience but Maytag is repairing it free and in my experience, as a stationary engineer, I doubt Maytag had any way of knowing the capacitors were faulty. I'm sure their supplier of HV boards is paying through the nose for this.
In the mean time here's what worked for me to make it stop but not interrupt refrig/freezer from staying cold in the meantime. I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR INJURY THAT MAY RESULT FROM PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING STEPS - in today's lawsuit happy society i deem it necessary to relinquish myself from any and all responsibility.
1- Unplug Refrigerator
2- Remove spillguard
3- Remove the two (2) 1/4" screws holding the ice/water dispenser in place.
4- Slide plastic housing up and then out - carefully as to not break plastic clips
5- Disconnect (as you're looking at the front of fridge) top left wire,
this powers the ice/water dispenser and temp controls
6- Re-install plastic housing
7- Plug fridge back in
You'll have no LED read out but temperatures should stay OK as this worked for me.

Unit two years old, same as reported by everyone else. One minute fine and the next with the flapping door. This unit has been a waste of money and you would be a fool to buy this unit. This is the second time I have had a similar problem. First time I unpluged for a short period and when turned back on the unit cycled fine until now. Too much money for these types of problems. They have a problem and they should have had a recall by now to fix all units before they fail in a customers home. Calling Maytag tomorrow

Last night Sunday my fridge ice depenser door started flapping and the lights began blinking, Thius went on for thirty minutes I temporary solved the problem, I unplugged the fridge.
When I plugged it back in it started again, it has now quit for the moment, but can not get any ice or water. I paid $2500.00 for this fridge and thought Maytag was a "top brand". It appears they might fix this for free as Fridge is out of warrranty only 18 months old. time will tell will be calling Maytag this morning. Wish me luck.

My Maytag refrigerator control panel began acting crazy this afternoon. The ice maker dispenser flap continues to open and close on its own and the lights are flashing on and off. Any suggestions?

same problem. our icemaker is possessed. it's Christmas time, and i am so worried about all of the food that i just purchased yesterday morning. i've called a service center twice and was told someone would call me back. nothing. i'll be on the phone bright and early with maytag tomorrow, but that makes it Christmas Eve. is there anyway to fix this or disconnect the icemaker so that i don't short something out and lose all of my food???? not to mention my sanity?

Same problem, no ice or water and the panel blinks, kind of appropriate for Christmas. I called Maytag, after I gave them my model number, serial number and date of purchase she politely asked when I would like to schedule service, I asked if it was covered even though my warranty expired 5 months ago, she said it would still be covered since it was a known problem.

We arrived home last night from a Christmas party to the same scene described by the others. There was flashing lights and the ice chute continuously flapping open and closed. It was as if it was possessed. We are leaving for Hawaii in the morning for 10 days and reading that this seems to be a not uncommon problem was definitely disheartening. Maytag is closed today (Sunday) so I've scheduled an appointment online and having friends meet the repairman here. It seems that there was obviously a poor design that we're having to pay for. This should be on Maytag!

I have the same problem with ice and water dispenser not working. The lights flash on and off, and the ice door is caught in a repetative opening and closing cycle. The H20 unit is less than two years old. Looks like other are having the same problem.

The ice dispenser flap began to open and close repeated and the lights began to flash on and off. This would last for approx 20 minutes, ceasefor approx the same amount of time, and then repeat itself. This occurred last Sunday when no service centers were open for business. I called my place of purchase and schedule a service appt. for Tues. Late monday evening the flap issue and lights flashing issue stopped suddenly for i was unable to dispense water or ice. Early Tuesday morning i noticed that the freezer compartment was still working for the refrigirator part has stopped cooling. The repairman came and diagnosed that i need a "high voltage control board". He ordered one but unfortunately it wont be received for 14 days. Does this high voltage control board regulate the water/ice dispenser as well as the refrigerator portion? Or is the refrigiraotor not working a separate problem in and of itself? I purchased the unit in Oct of 2006. this is the third problem i have had with the unit. Will never purchase nor recommend a Maytag product to anyone.

My H2O ice dispenser flaps open and closed continuously and all the lights flash on the ice/water unit. 3 months out of warranty is going to cost $251.99 up front. It comes with a 1 year warranty on that part and a promise that is the most it will cost. The other option I could have chosen from the place I purchased it from (S**r*) was $65 service call to diagnose the problem and then any the cost of parts and any future labor to put in that part. I called parts and found out that the "high voltage control board" costs $189.49. Barely over a year old... what a lemon!
