How to set Static local IP Address for D-link DCS 5220 IP Camera? Am using Linksys WRTG54 Router, with SSID & WPA. I had set the D-Link DCS wireless to use the same SSID and WPA, but once I plug out...

To set a static IP on the camera, do the following:

1. Chose an IP address for the camera that is outside your normal DHCP range but within your network subnet.
For example, if your router uses DHCP and gives out addresses in the range of up to, you should chose an IP address beyond that (e.g.
2. Login to your camera's current IP address and go to Setup -> Network setup
3. Turn off DHCP and type in the IP address that you chose into the configuration.
4. Restart your camera.

The above should fix your Static IP address question.

With regards to your Wireless question, you should make sure of the following:
1. Your router is set to broadcast its SSID
2. Your router is setup to use WPA (not WPA2)
3. Your AES password in the camera config is the same as that as the routers

Hope this helps

Wireless installation for DCS-5220

Plug in the network cable first and make sure the following settings are correct:

1. SSID is the same and set to broadcast
2. You are using the same WPA AES password as the router (or WEP password if you are using WEP)
3. The wireless antennae is connected
4. The camera is located not to far from the router

After that, remove the network cable and restart your camera.

IP camera keeps resets itself

I have a pretty good knowledge of these cameras as I have 5 around my house.....

IP address resets are likely caused by the default address being loaded ( and the box is not checked to reset the IP on reboot. You have two options.....

Using IP surveillence, open the camera settings. You will be prompted that the recording will stop, just press OK. Once you get to the settings window, you should see your list of cameras and the config screen for the one that is highlighted. Pick the camera you want to change the setting for and go to the tab where you can assign the IP address and gateway. Type in the IP address you want it to use. Uncheck the box that says 'reset IP on reboot'. That box is at the top. Hit apply. Once you do that, cycle the power on the unit leaving it off for at least 10 seconds. When the camera reboots, type in the new IP and you should be able to view it. (sometimes the camera will default on that IP if your router is using and DHCP for computers that has that IP in it's range of assignments of IPs. Telling the camera which one to use and telling it to not reset on reboot will make the new IP stay in the camera.)

Your second option is to use the Installation Wizard or IE, find the camera either by typing in the IP for the camera in IE with the http:// or linking to the device with the installation wizard. If you follow the same procedure of assigning the IP and unchecking the box on reboot like described earlier, this should cure your problem. You do NOT want the IP resetting on reboot unless the camera will not link to your home router (likely causes for this is the IP range the router uses, say like most belkin or linksys routers use, does not cover the IP range of the camera in it's DHCP server.

What I found best was to buy a junk router, set it's DHCP IP range to cover, set the camera, save it, kill the cameras power, connect it to the router you plan to use, then start the camera back up. Make sure whatever IP address you use on the camera is one covered by the DHCP server list on the router. ie: camera is set to and the router assigns IPs from through192.168.2.254. If your router only assigns IPS from through and the IP on the camera is, you won't be able to connect to it.

Hope this helps

if you hit the reset button on your router you can restore it to factory defaults. then, you can log into the default IP address of your router and change the password to what you want. This is the only way to change it- being able to change your password without having the old one would be a GLARING security hole. If you update your question with the model # of your belkin I can find the manual online. It will list the default IP address, username and password that you will need to access it after the reset.
