If the motor has'nt locked up then the chances are good you have a bad starter.places like auto-zone will test your starter for free if you take it to them.you will have to remove it from the car,or if you have a friend that knows how.Hope this helps and good luck.

yes, have the alternator bench tested and while its out - either install a new solenoid or replace the entire unit. Then you will be worry free for another 17 years :D
