Question about Televison & Video
Have a hitachi LCD tv - Model 37LD8600. Turn it on, may get a stable picture (for a few secs) and sound. Usually picture flickers and then disappears, sound stays OK. Change channels and picture flickers and goes again. Leave it on for a while and it sometimes comes back for a few secs ... Any ideas ? Thanks , Worth repairing ??? ( could it be capacitor somewhere ? Power supply fault? LCD image unit faulty ? ) Ive no idea so some guidance would be appreciated. THANKS
Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
