Hi,
There are 5 versions/revision of this model. If you are using Revision E and can already connect to the Internet, there are 3 ways to secure the DI-524:
1. WEP security (though will slow down connection)
Open a browser in a PC connected by LAN to the DI-524. Type 192.168.0.1. Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Click OK . Click the Home tab and click the Wireless button on the left hand side of the screen. Select Enable next to the WEP radio buttons. For WEP encryption select 64, 128, or 256-bit encryption. For the Key type select HEX. If you have an option for Authentication type, select Shared Key. Select Key 1. Enter a Hex encryption key that you make up. The length of the encryption key will depend on what you selected under WEP Encryption (The encryption key is HEX, meaning 0-9 and A-F are valid characters). Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.
2. WPA-PSK security (though will slow down connection)
Open a browser in a PC connected by LAN to the DI-524. Type 192.168.0.1. Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Click OK . Click the Home tab and click the Wireless button on the left hand side of the screen. Select WPA-PSK using the radio buttons. Enter a key (passphrase). The key is an alpha-numeric password between 8 and 63 characters long. The password can include symbols (!?*&_) and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all other wireless clients. Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.
3. Not sure if you can also try MAC Filter and Hide or disable SSID Broadcast.
Or a combination of any or all of the above.
Alternately, you can refer to the Quick Setup guide or the FAQ at the D-Link site where this steps are better explained.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turns up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
