Hoover washing machine 200m, making the worst sound ever...

My Hoover 200m is making the worst sounds ever, it only makes this noise during the "Wash cycle" and the "Pre-wash cycle" during the spinging cycles its fine. The noise is hard to explain, but is loud and deep and isnt constant, if that makes any sense at all. Works fine and have still being using it. What could it be and am i able to fix it myself or should i get someone in? Thanks for taking my question

Never continue to use a machine that makes any noise it shouldn't you can only make matters worse and could do severe damage that can't be repaired, sound like something in the drum or something loose outside the drum, like suspension etc based on the info given i would just say ask an engineer to have a quick listen, many do a free estimate

Loud metal grinding noise during wash cycle kenm ore 11020022011

All Kenmores are the bottom of the line appliances. If under warranty, call Sears. Your machine has problems. May be on it's last legs. None of these sounds are 'normal'. Motors wearing out, likely.

Why does washer make grinding metal sounds during wash cycle only?

When it is washing, look to see if the basket is moving at all. The basket should be stationary during the agitation cycle.

Hoover 200m 4.5kg washing machine will not use cold water to wash. How do I switch it to cold water wash?

You can fix one of two ways.
1/ replace the cold water solenoid valve
This is located directly behind the cold water hose fitting
at the top of the machine
Remove the small electrical control panel by removing the
three small screws.

2/ If you only need the cold wash program you can save
money by swapping the vaves around. They are easy to
remove and they are held in place by a plastic insert which
lifts up to remove them .

Make absolutely sure that your Machine is disconnected from the mains supply before you replace these valves

HOOVER 510 PREMIER WASHING MACHINE ABOVE THE BELT SHAFT THERE IS A PLASTIC COG WHEN THE WASHING MACHINE IS ON WASH CYCLE IT SPINS FINE ONE WAY THEN ON THE REVERSE SPIN THER IS THIS ORANGE LEVER THAT MAKES...

I imagine you've bought a new machine by now? The plastic gearcog is the clutch housing. The arm that clicks is part of the brake lever. On these models, the brake lever is supposed to hold the clutch in place during the wash cycle so that it slips in both directions to get a forward and reverse wash. On spin, the lever moves away releasing the clutch and gearbox brake and allowing the bowl and agitator to spin together. The brake lever wears and allows the gearbox to slip during the wash cycle. When this happens, the clutch housing will "ratchet" past the brake lever tongue. this causes the "clicking" noise in 1 direction.
