1 Answer

HP 1610 its worked fine until I put a picture in tonight to scan to my photosmart premier file and it says ' invalid paremeter passed'. What does this mean?, and how do I fix it/ the printer is out of ink at the moment but that shouldn't affect the scanning, right?.

Re: HP 1610

Ink should not affect the scanning. Try turning the printer off then back on and rebooting the computer. Sometimes that does the trick. Also, I'd suggest updating your software/drivers from hp's site.

I want to scan to my documents and the scan only scans to photo essentials. What do I do?

How are you scanning it ? From HP Solutions Center or HP Director ?

Try this step.

Open HP Director or HP Solution Center.

Under Settings you will find Pictures/Document Scan
Below you will find option like File Type : Choose JPEG or PDF

Save it.

IF this does not work, the best option for you is to uninstall HP Photosmart Essentials from Add/Remove programs ( or Control panel - Programs and Features )

But however, by default the pictures/documents are still saved in MY Documents - My Scans folder even if the Photosmart essential pop-up after you scan

I have a HP Photosmart 2575 xi all in one printer and I need to be able to scan documents and photos. I have no idea how to do it. How do you scan these things. I use the printer and the copier but have...

1. Turn on your computer, wait for it to boot up, then turn on the printer.
2 Double click the "HP Photo Imaging Director" icon on your desktop ( placed there when your
printer was installed on your computer ). A menu screen will appear showing the scanning
options of the printer.
3 Place your document or photo on the printer's glass top and close the lid.
4 From the menu screen, click on " Scan Picture " or " Scan Document "
When "Scan Document" is selected, a secondary screen will appear from which you will have to
make choices. After making your decisions, click "Scan" from the listed screen.
When "Scan Picture" is selected, one scanning pass will be performed, another pass will be
made after you view the result of the first pass.
Scanned pictures will go to the HP Photo Gallery and your "My Picture" folder.
Scanned documents will go to your "My Documents" folder.
Good Luck with your scanning operations!!

Try to scan using picture or media viewer like iview, windows photo gallery in Vista, or any other program you already have. Next, go to File menu of the viewer(software you use) and in the File menu choose Scan or Import from.. then choose Save as in the same File menu.

Can I scan 35mm negatives with hp 1610 all in one?

You can scan negatives but, put about 10 sheets of plain white paper on top of them. Otherwise, you'll pick up the reflection if the texture of the pad that holds them in place. Open them in a photoediting program and just click "Invert" You will have your photos. You can adjust the picture qualities too.

I am not sure if you have been able to scan yet but I just did this on mine and it worked fine. Go to the icon HP solution center-should be on your desktop; click on scan picture, (Put picture on glass first in printer and close cover) click picture to file, click scan; click on base name and type the name for you picture then save location click browse and choose file to save to and then click ok. it will show you a copy of the image then click on finish. The picture will show up at the bottom of your file.
